Now D Company becomes FDI..And , Pakis wont have to use the havala route or drug money to fund their fireworks. No need for tunnels or boats for their 'explosive experts'. They can just walk in with designations and pay packets and invest real profits for their fireworks. :two_thumbs_up: Asha ki Aman

What next, we ask Afghanistan, Somalia, Bhutan, and Bangladesh to invest in India? All said and done I just don't have the trust inventory when it comes to dealing with Pakistan on anything. I don't think we should do anything to help them (earn from Indian market) even if it helps us (they invest in India). I don't think investment by Pakistan in India is going to make much of a difference to our economy so if it isn't a necessity we must avoid it.

You've pretty much answered my query that even with sanctions removed investing in India won't be a piece of cake as far as Pakistani's are concerned . Its not a straight forward as the headline says as if any tom dick and harry can invest .
true...only the big operators like Dawood and Hafeez will have the clout to get through the red tape. I hate this effing govt!

They are not expecting much invetsment from Pak , on the contrary it allows our companies smooth access to a pretty huge market .

Can we stop being derogatory towards other countries please? I doubt any citizen of these countries will read this and feel flattered. Plus of course Bhutan is our most friendly neighbour, and Afganistan (not Taliban) has always been pro-India. Lets not antagonize them too.
All said and done I just don't have the trust inventory when it comes to dealing with Pakistan on anything. I don't think we should do anything to help them (earn from Indian market) even if it helps us (they invest in India). I don't think investment by Pakistan in India is going to make much of a difference to our economy so if it isn't a necessity we must avoid it.
Because that is what mature countries do. Wall Street runs on Chinese & Russian money. And till recent collapse, Dubai's. These are all matters of public record that you can look up rather easily. Every country in modern times encourages FDI. And lets not make India to make a Hong Kong anyway. We are lucky other countries think of us as attractive investment, shut up and lay down the red carpet. And if our Government can not control how companies operate within our own boundaries, we may as well stop complaining about how other countries should control theirs. But of course you can also chose to behave like a whiny housewife who just shows up with a big snarl on her face every time she sees her husband. xxx

Are we seriously equating that with Indo Pak relationship not to mention the terrorist attacks within the country in last 22 years. I am not necessarily against FDI for Pak. investors. I am just trying to understand how have we managed to go from no relation with Pakistan to JUSTICE FOR 26/11 to finally, forget the terrorism and justice for 26 /11 attacks, let us start playing cricket and give you some some FDI lollypop. I mean surely I am missing something here, because I don't see what has the neighbour done to deserve this generosity. Ofcourse, even if we ignore the above, has India been granted MFN status by Pak YET ?

No. Because India is no US, and Pakistan is no China. Lets get off our high horse for a second. Both the countries, India-Pak, are fast becoming two countries that are highly immature and can never settle differences. I am sure you are very happy everytime you hear how South Asia is the most dangerous place on planet.

Oh that part is easy. We have been after Dawood since 1991. So what has happened in 20 odd years. Nothing. You and I can argue whole day long but at the end of the day India thinktank does little more than sulk and moan. There are far better chances of peace in the region via trade than via false bravado aka lets not allow FDI.
Ofcourse, even if we ignore the above, has India been granted MFN status by Pak YET ?
Thats a fair point, I am sure that is the next issue in line.
