wow, he was a freedom fighter. A man who mostly played smaller roles, but everyone knew him well by name. Be it Sholay's Imam Saheb or Aandhi's Ramu Kaka, he always left an impression. Some of my Bollywood's best memories are associated with A.K. Hangal. RIP.

Why so sad g92? He was 95!
Its sad to see so many Legends dying in the film industry. Anyways, even though he was 95, we have a lost an artist who looked good in every role he played.

RIP... i was just going through his Bio on wiki.. some interesting information there.. he was jailed for three years for being a communist..

Born into a Kashmiri Pandit family, he spent his childhood in Peshawar, where he had performed in theatre for some major roles. His father's name was Pandit Hari Kishan Hangal.[7][8] However, his primary occupation for the early part of his life was that of a tailor.[9] He was an active participant in the Indian freedom struggle from 1929-1947. He joined Shree Sangeet Priya Mandal, a theater group in Peshawar in 1936 and continued to act in many plays in pre Partition Pakistan till 1946.[10]Following his father's retirement, the family moved from Peshawar to Karachi. He moved to Bombay after the Partition of India in 1949 after 3 years in prison in Pakistan. He was involved with the theatre group IPTA along with Balraj Sahni and Kaifi Azmi, both of whom had Marxist leanings. He was jailed because he was a communist[11] in Karachi for two years from 1947-1949 and after his release came to India and settled in Mumbai.[12]He later acted in many plays in theaters in India from 1949-1965.

R.I.P. Sad that none of the big stars went to his funeral or his prayer meet. Anpuam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar etc. were the highest level of Bollywood celebrities at his prayer meet. Sad to see that none of 70s and 80s star could not even spare a few minutes for the person with whom they worked with in several movies. Even Big B or Dharmendra who were there in Sholay did not visit him. Sad to see the state of affairs. When Rajesh Khanna's funeral became a high profile event, everybody went but nobody went to Hangal Saab's prayer meet too because they could not get the 15 seconds of fame as in the former one. Nobody from Rajesh Khanna's family too who had worked with A K Hangal for more than 15 movies.
