Baba is a much better bowler than he showed in wc imo.Remember he bowled in Aus conditions which were supposed to be graveyard for off spinners.He was India's leading wk taker going into this tournament.Also had some great performances with the ball in the quadrangular series in India few months back. Think TN definetly sees him as a future regular.They tried to blood him into the team and even promoted him to no.3 ahead of the likes of Badri and Karthick in a couple of matches. He could easily be as good as Ashwin with the ball with time.Hopefully we have decent pitches helping spinners in chepauk so that Aprajith and Srinivas can take advantage of and develop.

Yep i think it was because we didnt want to take too much risk in knock out rounds.We usually play with 5 bowlers with Yo Mahesh as bowling AR.Think Baba will take that position hopefully with Mahesh coming in at no.8. Also we dont have that many competitors for him in team as some think.No.3 position is vacant and we dont have good no.6 batsman either.If Badri is in the squad for Nt for the series agaist eng & Aus that will leave an even bigger hole in the team. Also in the Delhi game when he played at no.3 in 2nd inngs he played a good knock with Karthick IIRC.So it wasnt a complete failure.

Yes, that 44* was good. I hope he capitalizes on his opportunities this year, since Vasudevadas has done decently enough last year to hold on to his spot. He's still very young, so sooner or later he'll be there hopefully.

Aswhin's evolution from a 'Oh, he's only a very good T20 bowler in IPL' to 'He can be a really reliable and consistent bowler in ODIs too' to 'Wow, this guy can bowl in tests too' has been super-fast. Not many players can make that transition that fast. Yuvraj had to wait 10 years before he could get a spot in the Indian middle order (which he subsequently lost due to health issues), Raina is still struggling to cement his place nearly 6 years after his international debut, the likes of Mishra/Chawla have momentarily glittered only to fade away immediately. This meteoric rise by Ashwin indicates that there's something special/different about this dude, much like what we have seen of Kohli in recent times. The occasional angry twitter repartee aside, this guy is an incredibly intelligent young man. I dont think we have even a fraction of what he's fully capable of.

he is attacking off spinner form india .. its breath of fresh air seeing indian spin bowler pitching it up and making batsmen drive..he is good bowler...if he keeps on improving like this it will be awesome atleast we wont have to worry much about home matches

I would not read too much into his performance against NZ. The lack of test-match quality in their batsmen is shocking. I just look at Aswhin, where he was only 2 years ago and where he's now. There's not a single bad sign.
