Calculating your own bowling speed using video

Hi guys, I have been trying to get a good idea of my bowling speed. Asking batsmens seems to inaccurate, based on human perception and wicket conditions. So I thought of a way to calcuate it using recorded footage. I go into windows movies maker and print screen an image, using paint, I measure how many pixels long my arm (known quantity) is. I then can find out the distance per pixel, by dividing arm length by number of pixels. I then pick two frames 0.04s apart and measure the pixels traveled. This can then be used to calculate the speed. But I got a very inaccurate number, 45mph for a fast bowler?? Is there any other more accurate way to measure pixel length? Thanks,

To make a few pennies more. Gareeb country hai becharon ka, no one plays there, they can't play IPL, they run to play BPL but don't get paid; hopefully playing in SLPL will help them make some money. Can't really blame the bhookha-nanga players :((

That doesn't sound right. Why measure arm length? A typical pitch is 22 yards. 22 yards / time it takes for the ball to travel from one end of the pitch to the other. Not saying, this would work acurately though

I wanted to measure the speed at arm release, so as to get a comparison with other bowler's speed readings and to take the guess work out of the ball slowing down due to drag and bouce.

Need to record the video of u bowling on a good camera, and if u are aware of fps speed and time taken for the ball to cover 22 yards , u have the speed of the delivery, I was able to get a fairly good number as far as Domestic bowlers and the numbers seems consistent, not sure how u could accurately calculate the speed at release , maybe u can break it down by putting markers on the wicket and get a speed distance calculation of 5 yards and get an accurate speed at the time of release.
