Ultimate_Game Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 aparajiths hook shot in final - shot of final for me For me it was the 6 by Chand over extra cover to reach his 100. Absolutely top class and something not many batsmen, including current intl ones, can play :hatsoff:
surajmal Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 aparajiths hook shot in final - shot of final for me Chand's first six off Sandhu over long off. Just Brilliant. Put Sandhu on the backfoot right from the get go.

Ultimate_Game Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Yeah that as well. I can only think of Sehwag and Yuvraj playing that shot well. Not even Sehwag would have done that with as much class. Sehwag would have slashed at the ball whereas Chand played a beautiful lofted drive over extra cover. That shot was something special.
Utalk Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Transition from junior cricket to senior game is huge esp for a batsman. Umar Akmal smashed likes of bolinger on A tour to Aus and we all got excited now same Umar is a hack.

There is no transition for Pak cricketers; Your junior cricketers are already seniors when they compete with under-19s dude; they just lie about their age and get found when confronted by big boys

He should emulate Kohli. He is the best batsman Pak has right now.
MCcricket Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Chand is probably the best u 19 player that most people who matter and observe think they have seen, talent plus temperament a deadly combo.
ravishingravi Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I think we are getting too excited over Chand. Let the boy come through. Watching the game live, I felt international attacks would have tucked him up. He also seems very loose outside off. No denying talent. But international cricket is a different ball game.

You are underestimating the fast bowlers played in this world cup. As Ian Chappel said, they were for more improved, developed, and impressive than the most batsmen. This was the first U19 WC I saw so many fast bowlers clocking 140K, at least 7-8 pacers, while in last world cup there was only one who clocked 140 plus, Josh Hazelwood. I think in next 1-2 years he should be brought into the setup, not just right now. Let him play FC and with A team first before that.
Viki_J Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 It was great to see our u19 players and the newcomers are playing short pitch deliveries very well. Chand, Virat Rahane, Mandeep They hook and pull very well. :yay: mandeep is awesome !

But international cricket and pressures are a different ball game. The bowlers were way quicker than others in the tourney, but they had not developed consistency and skills at this stage. There is lot to admire about Chand but his discipline outside off and his on side play needs to develop. I think he should be brought into India setup. But it will take another 2 yrs atleast for him to evolve

Umar Akmal smashed likes of bolinger on A tour to Aus and we all got excited now same Umar is a hack. umar is power player. the likes of dhoni, Gayle.should play in the v. only thing they can all do decently square of the wicket is pull. rest of the shot looks ugly hack. and on top of that umer does his retarded improvisation. u see him coming, he hits few lusty blow down the wicket, and then he thinks he is set and starts hitting lot squarer and sooner then later misses something. he does that more when runs are not ticking from the other end. he should be barred to play big shot anywhere except in the arc of cover to leg. power player needs someone to quickly rotate strike. asad was doing that well in the last match. umar was doing fine. the minute kami walked in he lost it. i have no doubt if umar always had someone going at nearly run a ball and rotating strike at the other end he would have averaged 50+ instead of 38.

If you allow him to play lofted shot from covers to leg as you are suggesting, to kaun sa area bach gaya? It's highly unlikely he would play a lofted shot over 3rd man :giggle:
PaceAttack Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Pak's best batsman Umar would not get a place in India A team..:giggle:
panther Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 xAqTO7qM9VM beautiful backlift reminded me of brian lara except brian lara would not hit the ball as hard but with timing.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 To me Unmukt's batting style is a cross between Sehwag and Kohli. Hope he's fast tracked into the Indian setup just like Kohli was and he's as successful as Kohli
