"We will sell our cricket team Deccan Chargers, which will sort out most of the immediate requirements," Reddy told the Economic Times in an interview. "We are at an advanced stage of negotiations to sell Deccan Chargers. And then the company will be back in action. The newspaper business will not be sold." IPL is a monopoly while the US consumer has more alternatives...I mean an NFL fan can still be a NBA or MLB fan so this may not sound as a right term but generally the fan base is more watered down compared to IPL

DC owners seek BCCI help to find buyer

In June DCHL had appointed Religare Capital Markets to look for potential investors who might be interested in buying a part or the entire stake in the franchise. But the board official pointed out any sale could not be a straightforward process. "It is not an easy task because there are some legal proceedings against the Deccan Chargers owners. There are also a number of lenders, number of people who have a stake in the team. One of the lenders has even filed a company winding-up petition," the official said.

Ultimate_Game is correct IMO; this seems like over-evaluation based on the potential for return on investment; I suspect this is true for the valuation of almost all the franchises. These IPL frnachises have been bought by the richest of rich in India more as prestige and entertainment vs. a true financial ROI proposition

thankgod i hope the small time chumps like the owners of rajasthan punjab and even kkr are removed. Dhoot was first interested in buying Pune but Sahara out bid him. Though Dhoot is a marwadi they have lived in maharashtra for generations and speak marathi at home as their mother tongue. They have even inter married into the local popullace. Wont be surprised if Dhoot shifts the venue to Nagpur. Or he and his friends in the Kirloskar brothers (toyota kirloskar being their main company) end up being partners.

U cant change the venue and name DC.That is clearly stipulated in the add inviting bids. Also there are rumors in Tamil media Sun network is vying to buy the DC team.SO there are chances the asking price might be met even if it seem unrealistic
