Pretty much clear the upper part is North and the lower part is South (with or without the electricity) because the map is always presented as North to South, top to bottom. But, there is another fascinating insight. There is one tiny electricity dot in North Korea and no prizes for guessing the city [0]. It is widely believed (no way to be sure as media is restricted in North Korea) that the center only takes care of Pyongyang (capital of North Korea). Besides that capital, the entire country is afflicted with the worse of a famine since the 1930s. People die out of hunger and 3rd Generation Kim is enjoying himself. :headshake: [0] http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/20/Pyongyang_North_Korea.png [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyongyang

When North Koreans defect to China, they are sent back to North Korea. When they defect to South Korea, they find that they can't keep up with the pace of life there and defect back to North Korea!
Korean activists and campaigners are claiming that an increasing number of people who had defected from North to South Korea are returning North, with most double defectors saying that integration to life in the South is too difficult.

When we found out that Kim Jong Il was in the same region making deals for even more of these types of labor arrangements we knew that we had to show what was going on: a dictator trying to sell more of his people, to make more money, to build more nuclear weapons, that he can use to blackmail the West into giving North Korea more aid, thus enabling him to maintain his regime. And this more than anything exemplifies the absurdity of the modern condition. Or at least the bull goose lunacy that is going on in Russia's Far East.
Brilliant journalism! VICE telling it like it is.

But for some reason its cool to have heros like hugo chaves, Che guvera or castro (put gays in concentration camps), but if your pro capitalist your a evil greedy selfish person, even in developed countries that were built by capitalism.

How many are actually anti-capitalist, meaning they want govt to pump oil, make cars, run farms, make toilet paper and everything else ? The arguments are all shades of grey, some measure of capitalism and some of 'spreading' the wealth around i.e. socialism.

TBH the argument here isn't literally Capitalism vs Communism, since they coexist in China. The former is an economic system while the latter a form of govt.

Of course theirs no such thing as 100% communist or 100% capitalist but we can safely say north korea is communist, most the west is capitalist, china and India were controlled economies that have passed some free market reforms fairly recently, south america occasionally has crony capitalistic free markets with spurts of Left wing socialist backlashes.Africa is anarchist with some left wing populist states like Zimbabwe. Middle east has oil and mostly controlled economies with some exceptions. But despite all this Capitalism and free market reforms is still seen in many places as controversial.

It is clear from the pictures that capitalism has brought nothing but light pollution and global warming. The alternative (whatever it is) has brought serenity and peaceful sleep.

Wow!!! the light map says it all...is there a similar light map about Ind/Pak border?....if the contrast is not as similar as this...economically it surely is :winky:...reason is...post 1947..we focused on economic growth while the padosis wasted all the precious time trying to destablize India :headshake:
Pakistans economy was better than india untill manmohan singh passed capitalist reforms. The term hindu rate refers to other non hindu asian countries growing faster than india which included pakistan and even bangladesh I belive.. The cause of that was Nehrus stupid socialist polocies and the corruption that came with his liscense raj that india is still strugling to deal with.
