I keep hearing how captaincy is overrated. But IMO the importance of a captain in test cricket can not be overstated.

The support for Dhoni as a captain in test format is very tough to understand. Also, imo ODI's and T20 should go to Virat who is a much better player than Dhoni in those formats. Virat has to show better maturity on field though in the way he conducts himself.

Those who haven't been able to watch "The Verdict" on Sky Sports in the UK - Ravi Shastri is one of the guests on the show and has strongly backed Dhoni as India captain, even if India lose this series 3-1 :haha: He thinks Dhoni did all he could in this test, scored runs, managed bowlers well. But his batsmen let him down. Also given India's performance at Lord's, Shastri thinks questioning Dhoni and Fletcher's position now is ridiculous :haha:

Well to be fair most would tow the line of on a mutli crore contract. The real point is why the rest of media don't expose and hammer this paid comm thing and how the indian public seem totally oblivious to it and seem to take sunny/shastri and co comments seriously, hence the indian public thinking dhoni is great skipper doing great job! O well we also think our politicians are great , while they steal our money!!

Our bowlers are on record saying they have been asked to bowl negatively. Some of our bowlers are making debut on their first over seas tour All of our batsmen except Dhoni are completely green when it comes to England So who in their right mind would want to blame the youngsters more and not the ultra defensive tactics and lack of plan? Remember, no one is complaining that we lost, but that we surrendered meekly and seemed to have no plan. A well fought loss with youngsters showing spirit is very different thing

He even brushed aside Charles Colville's first question to him "Is it time for India to look beyond Dhoni and Fletcher", as he ignored that question and deflected it onto how badly India played as a team. I'm just flummoxed as to how none of the ex-cricketers can see through this whole charade? Has the BCCI bought them all? The likes of Shane Warne, Ian Chappell and all Englishmen are stunned by Dhoni's captaincy in tests. Yet the Indian cricketers seem to think nothing is wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if Dhoni stays captain well past the 2015 WC, maybe until the 2016 T20 WC which Srini announced will be played in India.

It truly was an amazing performance by shastri. Yes he like a true lieing politician just answerd any question how he like when did not want to answer the question. Just when in doubt kept repeating how team won at lords and thus showed a good team, need to just perfume like they did at lords blah blah. They are no saints either. Many of them suck up to Cook and ECB. Cook is a very defensive captain and he also seems to be clueless on the field many times. He will be exposed terribly against SA and Aus.
