Tiger80 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 The best investment in India always is Property if you can hold it for 5 years or more. Also if you buy commercial property then you can earn very good rental income from it too
Crookbond Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 If you can afford it' date=' buy real estate[/quote'] What is the best way to go about this?
ravishingravi Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 If you can afford it' date=' buy real estate[/quote'] That bus has been missed. 1999-2005 was the best time to go in.
Jersey #10 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 I live in the united states. Real Estate isn't the best way to make money here. The prices take decades to significantly increase or decrease. As somone mentioned, the bus has been missed if you were to buy land/property in India.
Jersey #10 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 A rich wife I really don't believe in the "rich wife", "rich father in law" trend. In fact, I hate it when people talk about marrying a rich person's daughter for that particular reason. I am not going to marry a rich wife because her dad is rich because I know that i can make 10 times more money than her dad did.
surajmal Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 That bus has been missed. 1999-2005 was the best time to go in. Too true. Indian real estate is a bubble waiting to burst. Prices are basically at western levels but bang for the buck is 1/10 of what you get in the West. You can thank all the black money floating around.
Jersey #10 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 SIP ( mf ) PPF FD Gold Currency could you explain? at least the first three options on that list . thanks
punjabi_khota Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Stocks and gold mein daalo aur kya. You are too young to do anything else. 1). Assuming you are in early-mid 20s, you are probably too poor / low credit to buy property in US 2). Since you are asking this question here, you can't handle options/derivatives 3). Too young to put money in fixed deposits/bonds since growth is very low If you have few thousand $ laying around, save some for rainy day and put rest in mutual funds, and maybe Gold (not sure abt gold). If you are feeling ambitious, open a trading account where they let you do 'virtual trading'. That is, trading in fake money where it grows/decays with real stock market numbers. Play around with it for a month or 2 so to see how you would have done if it was real money. Then if you feel confident, start doing real stock transactions, but only deal with realatively long term investments (i.e. avoid daily/weekly speculations). Remember it is a gamble though. I have 4 friends working in finance/wall street, and 3 of them are net negative playing with the market (on their personal funds). :hahaha:
1983-2011 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Children, Invest in them for 21-24 years then reap rewards:winky:

I just wanted to know what people invested in or would invest in, in general.
