BCCI mulls three captains for Team India

You follow that route and half of our side including Tendulkar would be history. Want to go down that route?
at lest all these guys have performed well in Test cricket before these last few matches - Except for a few occasions, Dhoni has not contributed that much with the bat in Tests throughout his career. More often than not, we see him making big runs in Tests when the team has already amassed a huge total.

Second Test against New Zealand' date=' his runs were crucial.[/quote'] What about the 8-0 abroad that he went missing at crucial times when the team really required him. Any player can make once in a blue moon contributions, one expects consistency from the captain.

BCCI is mulling and here Dhoni fanboys are getting angry on non-fanboys..
i do think though sandeep patil will drop a few biggies during selection

The worrying part is Test captaincy. i know Dhoni needs to be removed off test captaincy, that will also help the workload. But, there seems no suitable person. They will go for Viru but I dont find any good replacement. Gauti was one but right now his place in the eleven is not a certainty.

Sehwag Gambhir Pujara Sachin Kohli (some new batsman or Raina) Dhoni Ashwin Zaheer Ojha Umesh thats are top order. Sehwag Gambhir are in **** form. Dhoni averages more than them since the 2011 world cup Sachin does not want captaincy and may retire Pujara Kohli (raina/new batsman) are too new to test cricket Ashwin new to test cricket Ojha new to test cricket Zaheer out of form and injury prone Umesh new to test cricket So do you have any other options? Fact is there is no other option to Dhoni. Kohli might be a future option but that option is 2-3 years away. The only real option before 2011 world cup was Gambhir. But he is batting so badly that i would axe him from the side.

All these years we bangbros have been copying from India now you guys are copying us? :D After our failure in T20 WC our board as well mulled for 3 captains for 3 formats
nothing is decided yet... still speculations from media Actually Eng was the first to have this model.. and they were no-1 in all 3 formats for a brief period..

Second Test against New Zealand' date=' his runs were crucial.[/quote'] occasional performances are not what the Team wants from the Captain. As I said earlier, he usually comes out when the team has made quite a few runs and then he goes on to score big runs but when the team actually needs then we see a good performance very, very rarely.

Any player can make once in a blue moon contributions' date=' one expects consistency from the captain.[/quote'] Firstly, I was asked for times he has performed in Tests in the last few months. He has played two Tests. One of which contained match winning knocks. Now you ask me for match winning and match saving knocks in a group of matches that we lost? That is a paradox. Dhoni has an outstanding batting record for a wicket keeper. He under-performed in 8-0, just like everyone else did! You cannot single him out for under-performing there. There is no wicket keeper in India who will do better with the bat than Dhoni has, imo.

Gambhir and Sehwag have better test pedigree than Dhoni, they are suffering a run of poor form but possess the capability to turn it around. Dhoni on the other hand, will always be a mediocre bat because of his poor technique. Gambhir or Sehwag should be given a chance and can be a Kumble-like intermediate captain till Kohli can take over (if he cements his place in the test side i.e.).

And you think Gambhir can turn it around while being captain and opening the batting? everytime he seems to get a nudge and be bowled or caught behind. Its the same mode is dismissal.

Are you a Paki in disguise? If a player score ( a player you dislike), suddenly excuses start pouring. Runs are runs and he deserves credit. There are two different issues here, firstly should he still be captain and your own totally different issue on how he should be out of the team entirely. And the logically facts only suppose Dhoni being captain. But ,if you still continue to insist in ignoring his good performances, then it is only c rap from you.

so if I'm not a Dhoni fanboy then I'm a Paki :giggle: I guess there's no point in further discussion with you.

That's skating on thin ice. Maybe instead of having separate captains for 3 formats I would have one for shorter formats and one for Tests and when the new captain, preferably Kohli, has settled make him the captain in all 3 formats. Too many captains for a team like India is bound to increase the friction and groupism as we might end up in a situation that the team is playing with 3 active captains in a game - hardly an ideal scenario. Would hate India to go the padosi way :nervous:

Ignoring the issue once again? Your idea is basically like how Pakis say on how Sachin is a bad player as whenever he scores, India loses. Same pathetic logic. Delusional?

Get rid of him from test matches. Rest doesn't matter much to me.
+1 We have to start somewhere. People who are saying we cannot suddenly remove him from captaincy and keep him for the home series, they need to keep in mind we are touring SA next year (Dec) and the new captain cannot be expected to take over on an away tour. For this very reason, new skipper has to be selected for our next two home series to gel the team together under him.

I did not ask for a match winning/saving knock. I asked for a fighting knock where the captain who bats a crucial position comes and fights it out with the tail rather than meekly handing his wicket away. In the second test in England he came at a point where he a sizeable lead could have been built - got out cheaply. 1st in Australia, our top order had given a good platform to build a lead on - got out cheaply again. These could have been the difference between 4-0 and 2-1 defeat if not series victory.
