Crookbond Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 rest him for couple of series n give the captaincy to somebody else.isnt that wat u said?that pretty much drop him for captaincy:dontknow: :hmmmm2: You said it was work load - I said rest him PERIOD. If he's rested someone else should be made the captain in Test matches. If Tendulkar does not agree, then we have no choice.
Crookbond Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 :omg: are you saying that baring dhoni' date=' other batsmen like yuvi and raina has a lack of experience facing Srilankan's of all the teams :hysterical:[/quote'] :omg: Are you saying that Yuvraj and Raina play spin better than Dhoni? :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
Crookbond Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 he stole ashwin's thunder too could have won us the game.. bowl out lanka under 150 :dontknow: but he didnt played him!:omg: :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:
Sean Bradley Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 :omg: Are you saying that Yuvraj and Raina play spin better than Dhoni? :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: Yuraj is suceptible, not that hes a walking wicket against spin, and raina Hell Yeah Buddy :two_thumbs_up:, hes better against spin, better than dhoni.

Raghav_12 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I say selectors have the most power in Indian cricket. B-> as Mohinder Amarnath had :winky:
The Outsider Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 So, you mean to say no ever Test match standard WK has had a couple of bad series? OR Let me put it this way - according to you two bad series makes someone an average keeper (being careful with my choice of words) to sub standard. Dhoni was not a very good keeper before these series - and was pretty poor in these. If indeed that is the case, the same logic should be extended to batting as well. I want a decent openers in my side and a decent Number 5 batsman. Gambhir, Sehwag and Tendulkar all should go - I don't have any problem with any member (even Zaheer Khan) being the captain as long as decisions are consistent across. Okay, consistency. 1. Overall test pedigree: Sehwag has a much higher pedigree as a test player than Dhoni. 2. Recent performance: Has been poor away from home for both. Decent at home. 3. Captaincy: Dhoni's captaincy has been poor, so why not give Sehwag a chance since neither stands out on the basis of performance, whereas Sehwag does on overall test stature.
Raghav_12 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Some of the comments in this thread are lol-worthy. My Take - Test Matches - Should be removed from captaincy immediately. Should be considered along with Saha for a place in final XI. I would prefer to give Saha few chances upfront. ODI's - No reason for any kind of consideration. Dhoni should continue without doubt. He would have been legend of this format, even if he had played as pure batsman (but I don't rate his contribution much in WC 2011) T 20 - Remove him from captraincy. But keep him in team. Removal from Captaincy will bring old swashbuckling Dhoni back.

Give the young captain a full reign.
Crookbond Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Dhoni was not a very good keeper before these series - and was pretty poor in these. Okay, consistency. 1. Captaincy: Dhoni's captaincy has been poor, so why not give Sehwag a chance since neither stands out on the basis of performance, whereas Sehwag does on overall test stature. Now, we are discussing! Dhoni's WK skills I will not say he was "poor" before England/Australia - that's a bit harsh. He was not good or average - got the job done. Remember Sehwag and Dhoni are in the same boat as far as test performances are considered in the last 2 odd years. Both of them have done nothing abroad and done something at home ironically against the same opponent - New Zealand. Yes Sehwag has definitely a higher Test pedigree than Dhoni as a batsman and deserves more chances. Sehwag as far as captaincy goes does not have an edge over Dhoni. This is not the first time Sehwag will be captain - he has stood in for Dhoni at a lot of times and personally I don't find anything different from Dhoni. I know you would diss IPL but he did not set the stage alight as a captain there too. Just like Sehwag as a better pedigree than Dhoni as a batsman; Dhoni has a better pedigree over Sehwag a captain. So, if Sehwag deserves some chances for batting after being so poor I believe Dhoni deserves some rope as a captain as well. Final issue remains about dropping Dhoni from the team - sure go ahead. But, Gambhir/Raina should also not get their place as well then. Consistency as always. If this happens though, I want Tendulkar to take over as a captain in Test matches in the short term. However, IMO the best thing currently (if work load is an issue as some people are pointing too) would be for MS Dhoni to give up the gloves in longer format of the game and go in as a batsman. If he does not perform well, drop him. If he does, well good for us. Another alternative, is to rest him from a Test series - but I don't see that happening.
G_B_ Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 also people saying make Kohli captain. That is a sure shot way for the seniors in the side to rebel. You like it or not the fact is there is a social hierarchy in the Indian team. Which is why if you make Kohli captain you may need to axe a lot of the seniors.
Raghav_12 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 -Test no. Keep in mind no Indian keeper has averaged more than Dhoni to date. -Yes - Axe him from the team. Give the young captain a full reign. His average is misleading. His average outside SC is very poor. If you want to regain no.1 ranking, you should try to put up a team that can deliver outside sub-continent and for the same reason it is not advisable to keep Dhoni in scheme of things for test matches. He anyways have indicated that he doesn't rate test matches much.

Misleading averages - we should also not have an ageing player who can't stop the ball from hitting his wickets against a poor NZ side. :agree:
Laaloo Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 dhoni average is 52 in odis and he has been ICC odi player of the year for two years.I dont know what u are wumming about? He was referring to test matches

If Tendulkar does not agree, then we have no choice. Sachin didn't took up captaincy when there was a need to. What makes you think he will become a captain when he's going to be retiring soon? Sehwag is too egoistical and his form doesn't help. Gambhir can't even stop playing those crappy shots!! Why do some people believe him to be worthy of being a captain? No one else really stands out as being a candidate. So we will have to do with a defensive, non-aggressive, egoistical captain like Dhoni for a while. The guy keeps playing the same players over and over again hoping that they can perform once in a while so he can say look my decision was right.
