Lots of positives to have come out today - some promising players turned in very good performances. Pappu Patel is scoring at his usual heavy rate in domestic matches and Saha has turned in another crucial performance. I don't know why so many rate him so lowly. He played 2 tests, one against a rampant Steyn and another in Oz where everyone struggled, and he did not do that badly. His domestic record is incredible especially in List A matches - his average is close to that of Dhoni - not suggesting that they are anywhere near same calibre in ODIs, but still... Jadhav has done really well. His record in List A is so phenomenal that he deserves a chance at the crucial No.7 where everyone has played musical chairs. Baba has turned in his first significant Ranji performance.

How is this guy a domestic beast, he looks so limited at international level.

How is this guy a domestic beast' date=' he looks so limited at international level.[/quote'] Actually, I don't know about him looking limited, but he was the 1st in a chain of wicketkeepers who finally averaged over 30 in Tests. We mostly had players like MSK Prasad, Saba Karim, Dahiya, etc coming and going out of the team after Mongia. And even Mongia's average was never 30 in Tests. On the other hand, Pappu Patel (until his last-but-one Test) averaged 30, before he was kicked. Then, we had Karthik who also averaged above 30. Then, we had Dhoni and we've still got him. So, in a way Pappu paved the way for the rest to follow. From 20 average to 30 average and now Dhoni averages nearly 40. The next step is to find a good wicket keeper batsman in Tests who averages 45+ and can also do well outside the subcontinent, unlike MSD (in Tests).

Wow..So far he was doing very well at U19 level but failed in FC. Hope he has come of the age after this innings and he starts doing well. :two_thumbs_up:

Noon. Lunch in Chennai Dinesh Karthik reaches a quick fifty, at a strike-rate of close to 70, to take TN into lunch at 365 for 4 11.55am - Caution in Mohali Punjab have crawled to 24 for 1 in 14 overs after bowling Bengal out for 326. Jiwanjot SIngh, the debut double-centurion, is not out on 12. And that's also lunch there 11.45 - Double beckons for Jadhav Says Amol Karhadkar from Pune: "Jadhav enters 190s with a straight driven boundary off Bhuvneshwar, his 37th of the innings and 17th of the morning session"

1.51pm - Himachal going strong Prashant Chopra has missed out on a hundred, but his 90 and his 138-run opening stand with Aakash Chopra, 46 not out, has put Himachal in a strong position in reply to Services' 326
Another young U19 batsman to keep an eye on. I have more expecations from him than Unmukt in days cricket.

The star-studded batting line up at it agian. This time bullying Danda's. 129/1, 198 to win. Jiwanjot going for another century to add to 200 on debut. Currently on 50. I reckon Mandeep should have taken a specialist bat rather than Bipul. But he's obviously a very good captain and knows what he's doing. Great stuff from Rahul Sharma with 4 wickets, the captain's spot was filled well.

3.10pm - Will Jiwanjot ever fail? After a double-century on debut, Jiwanjot is now 58 not out in his second match. Punjab 146 for 1 after Bengal scored 326. Jiwanjot's current first-class average: 271. Frankly I don't see how he can fail. Ever

Unmukt :fail: again. :(( Although pitch seems to be bad for batting.
let him fail here and now atleast he wont get cocky and will improve we all know talent is there he is not like kohli his technique is not perfect so he wont score runs form start but if he improves he can be deadly

Absolute machine is Jiwanjot Singh. No way he will get less than 200 here. He's the once in a century player. About time someone puts that chit player who couldn't hold a bat properly in his place. I mean what kind of great can't bat on sticky wickets. Averaged 20 on them lol. Jiwanjot averaging about 300 now with the bat :hail:
