Dhoni has an advantage over Yuvra.Wherever Yuvi can score (Mostly indian pitches) runs Dhoni will outscore him comfortably. Wherever Dhoni is poor Yuvi is even worse so cant see Yuvi ever getting the clamour for test captaincy tbh

May be true as didnt follow or remember any of these warm ups.And probably he isnt good enough for international cricket. But fact is he was discarded from test team after failing in the ODI series in west indies.IMO that wasnt the right approach because once selected he deserved a few test matches to prove his worth.
You can't adopt such set formulas about someone deserving X chances based on Y. If it is clear Bradmanath struggles to put bat to ball against any decent fast bowling and most of his runs are behind the wicket, it is a basic flaw in his cricket and not some limitation of format. He will not suddenly start hitting cover drives and straight drives in test matches when he is struggling to get the ball off the square in ODIs. Problem of adaptation can be applied to Dravid in the early days of his career when he would struggle to score quick runs in ODIs, but the reason was not that he looked inept but rather was not able to find the gap or play with soft hands. Bradmanath looks like a clown at anything bowled at greater than 135 kmph and change of format is not going to change the fact that he is simply not good enough for international cricket.

+1. Sehwag is still lot better than Gambhir.
In test? No... One is willing to grind out while another is eager to throw away his wicket..

The new selectors have to be tough on Sachin' date='we cannot carry him because of his past exploits. He should be given 2 tests to prove himself or forced to retire completely, let him end his career at Wankhede.[/quote'] Is Sachin really our biggest problem in tests right now? We dont have a decent middle order. Our openers lack techique and application. And you want to get rid of our senior most player too? Do you want to change the entire team at once? Why so much bias against Sachin when our openers are at a worse form?

If you have read my other posts than you will know that i am dismayed at the form of our openers.Viru is viru and Gambhir has a serious technical problem outside off.Sachin just looks slow to me,his bat is not coming down at the speed required, its the reason for a lot of his his recent dismissals have been bowled(Dravid had a similar problem during his last few matches).

Till when do we need to live with this? this hypothesis that when he scores we win has been thrown out of the window for a while now. He looks the most out of sorts batsman to me and that too by a mile. Sachin atleast looked like scoring in Oz, which was just 3 tests back. And Sachin's slowing down does not worry me that much, because he can cope up with it but Viru's slackening attitude for 2 + years is disturbing.

Yeah, a 40 year old has been who struggles to put bat to ball and represents the country because he enjoys it and when his kids don't have vacations is the biggest problem of the team. If the great Sachin Tendulkar needs starts from openers to succeed, well even Rahane can score more than him in Indian conditions if given starts.

So if Sachin is the biggest problem and doesnt have much to contribute then he should first go but then we should leave Viru and Gambhir untouched for a while. Too many changes at once will not be good for the team

When he was younger and out of form I fully supported a longer run for him, Gambhir and more so Sehwag should get the same.

The toughest calls are yet to come for Patil’s team

Already, Patil and his panel have stirred the pot. Few would have expected them to be as proactive so early into their tenure, but the expectations that have been raised will have to tempered by the reality that this is the picking of an ‘A’ team, and that while it will generate a little bit of heat and interest – Rohit Sharma’s exclusion, for instance, hasn’t at been a talking point at all, which must be construed as an indication of growing maturity at all levels – all eyes will be on what course they adopt when it comes to the Test team.

So your basically saying we should select some chit left armer who despite being in the form off his life still averages 32. Getting a few wickets against 2 worst spin playing teams is obviously >single handedly destroying ATG Aus team On top of that you want to keep players with almost 700 international wickets, destroying legends of the game on the bench?
