DomainK Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Time to buy a new one. My budget - Rs. 50,000. 1. Should I go for Windows 8? I have not used it, so I am asking those who have. Is it good for a laptop? Does it have issues? Does it give trouble installing pirated software, especially unlicensed MS products? 2. Which brands are the most reliable right now? The heaviest software I will be using is Adobe CS6 - Illustrator, Flash, Premier and Photoshop. CS6 has real time rendering, which makes heavy use of graphic card's own RAM. Please advise me.
vvvslaxman Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Dell xps i would recommend. They have wide range of screen sizes as well. HP Envy is supposed to be good one of the rare good product from HP. But i am always skeptical about their product. Sony Vaio is another consideration.

Customer service was so good that i felt like the support guy (desi) was stalking me. I had audio card issues. He kept calling me to schedule an appointment to go through steps.. But there are sure some bad apples. Overall they are good.

HP high heat dissipation is one reason. But Dell if you can buy from US friend that will be great. I got an XPS 17 for my friend last year for 750$ around the same time with some myriad of discounts that you can get only in US. 17 inch screen, Blu ray drive, 1080p screen , 8 gig RAM, 1 TB hard drive, 1gb memory, JBLspeakers .. That was roughly 35k last time.

Are you going to be around if Ind loses or are you going to give the usual lame excuses saying 'oh we lost, but...bhajji superbly darted 400 balls for 1 wicket and look how beautifully he ran to deep midwicket to celebrate that'? I think you should for for Windows 8. Do not go for HP laptops - I think Dell should have good offerings for you.
Holysmoke Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Go for windows 8. Get an SSD if you can. Make sure you have 1600 Mhz RAM. Try to get a quad core i7. Make sure your processor is ivy bridge. Graphics card should be top notch. Make sure you get a good screen, resolution wise and viewing angles. Might need to do some research here. Ideal computer for you would be the retina macbook pro 15". See if you can get something like that for the price that you want in a dell or lenovo etc.
