I know that we have won the match and this is not a big issue now but do u think its ethical for player to disappear in a middle of test match for personal reason?
Bell's gone for the birth of his first child. GG went for a funeral of his Grandma. Sounds much better now?

bell didnt go in middle of test
Yes, he left on the 5th day and he will miss the 2nd Test due to this. Didn't GG leave during his sister's wedding, that was BS IMO.

It was a matter of death, so I wouldn't have argued over it even if we had lost the game. Considering he was raised by his grandparents, it must have been really tough for him.

A test match is not the be-all and end-all in someone's life. More important things can take precedence.

Looked really dull and disturbed, I thought he was injured.

Would you leave your work if anyone of your family dies in the middle of an important project?

You shouldn't be called the most passionate cricketer if you don't leave for someone's funeral and go on to play on the match day. I have been reading some crazy posts all over the net comparing Kohli's situiation when his dad died to this Gambhir's situation. In Kohli's case, I can tell you he himself won't be proud of what he did. This is a family situation. Someone's life is more important than anyone. It's not like skipping an exam to to go to once in a lifetime Michael Jackson's concert in India(my friend did that).

He has the right to give priority to his personal commitments. But substitute fielders shouldn't be allowed on the field for extended periods of the game unless the absent player is suffering from an injury.
