Is it difficult to bowl the " fast spin " ?? Why cant ojha and ashwin do that .

It takes lot more control. Essentially you are moving your arm a tad faster which can affect your control leading to a half tracker, or in Bhajji's case down the leg delivery for 5 wides. See how Paki spinners vary their speeds from 80 to 110 kph, with Afridi even managing to chuck it at 120 kph. BCCI has to wake up and see that in the new world there are no clean actions for spinners and doosra and chucking are part of a spinner's arsenal. They need to back spinners like Monish Parmar rather than throw them to the dogs which BCCI did.... Check out the following links. Murali karthick was always a back up to kumble and bhajji when they were doing extremely well....always made the best of the chances he got....but for some odd reason is not in any scheme of things....I mean now we have Ashwin and OJha but always wondered why he wasn't a natural successor given all the filth we have tried in between.

Murali Kartik was, and is, definitely better than the likes of Piyush chawla and Amit Mishra. poor chap never had a godfather to fight for him. If he had been Srikkanth's son he would have played 100 Tests by now.

Viru should have bowled. Remember he got 3-12 v SA in Kanpur off just a few overs. Instead we had an unfit Yuvraj bowling pies. Viru would have made more of an impact than Ashwin with the ball.

Even when Bhajji was struggling everywhere and Kartik was doing well, he was ignored.

Flight and loop are never passe.On turners its okay but on normal pitches there will be less turn and you will be exposed badly.Frankly even clarke was impossible to play with his roundarm action on turning tracks.

We play 2-3 spinners on turners.

I witnessed his best ODI figures which also happens to be at W'khede v/s Australia. He got 6/27 on a very helpful wicket. He would have been great under the circumstances.

And he is in form bowler also unlike some who can't buy wickets even at FC domestic level.

As for the references to that Mumbai test, called it on day 1 saying Dhoni's defensive captaincy will ruin it for us. The key for us in that test was Dravid's aggressive captaincy and tactical bowling changes and field placements.

Its just horrible to go over the same thing over and over again.Dhoni captaincy issues are going on for years .We lost 8-0 still he was captain.

Dravid made mistakes in that Test match too - 1 over too many for Zaheer, delaying of Kumble etc. All of it looks rosy now because he won - it does not mean Dravid was defensive, it only means your moves are as good as your players no matter what the conditions.

I didn't see Bhajji, Kumble and Kartik bowling slow and short there.

You should probably watch the game once again - in/out fields are really common and Ganguly/Dravid/Kumble all of them employed it. Gilchrist in fact was caught on the boundary - due to that field which gave him just 1 run of a sweep shot which otherwise would have been a boundary. Zaheer had taken Langer OUT in his first over and Ponting scored a crucial 8 runs of this next over which in the context of the game is like 20-30 runs. But we won and no one put a finger on it. Do you also feel Cook was defensive today? I would love to see if any website (or any poster on this forum) point it out that Cook was defensive. This defensive/attacking is BS - there was a wonderful article by Ed Smith recently on this (it goes on in football too). Ganguly in the Chennai Test match of the same series used the in-out field effectively - 4 fielders around the bat and rest on the boundary. The first 2 sessions in normal fields Australia raced to 190 odd for 2-3 wickets and then Kumble spun them out for within 70-100 runs with the same in-out fields. Everyone was gaga on Ganguly's "tactics". The issue is it is becoming a "fashion" to blame Dhoni with the typical mob mentality. In fact, with the line/length and one half-tracker per over bowled by Ashwin - no field is good enough. You can't set the fields for bad balls. In addition, tactics are all good on paper - if you do not execute they are of no use.

Don't remember Dravid having 5 fielders on the field at the start of a new session immediately after us having 2 quick wickets and a new batsmen struggling for form coming into bat like we had for KP on day 2. Remember in Mumbai 2004, we had scored just 100 odd in 1st innings and yet RD was attacking , here we had 327 on the board andd Dhoni's field placements when they were 120 for 2 suggested as if England were running away with the game.
