Jaddu - Just cleaned up Stevey. The best batsman in the opposition. Feels alright. After all I have got no talent and became No. 1 bowler only because I was given a long rope.

The best of observers ignored his steady left-arm spin at first, then he was ridiculed for his three triple-centuries in Ranji Trophy, the idea of Jadeja the Test player was contested when India gave him debut in 2012-13 against conventional wisdom, but in India's series win against Australia, Jadeja won them all over, not least by dismissing Michael Clarke five times in six innings.

Jaddu's batting output is still underwhelming, especially in comparison to his gaudy FC numbers.  This is because when he comes in a 50-50 situation which demands that he play a long innings, he makes shot selection errors in terms of picking which balls to attack, defend or leave.  Its no co-incidence that nearly all of his "successful" test innings have come in scenarios where he can attack with a clear mind.  That's not to say that his batting doesn't have technical issues.  But his biggest challenge is being judicious out there in terms of balancing his natural shot making tendencies against quality test class bowling.  

 

Its not an insurmountable problem, and with the confidence he has gained from his recent batting successes, there's a good chance he can be a more reliable contributor with the bat going forward.  But know him for what he is - a bowler who can bat a bit - expect "allrounder" type runs from him and you are just setting yourself up for disappointment which quickly turns into derision.
