Especially with all the criticism that he went through after 18 years of cricket playing for his country, he deserves a lot better treatment. But having said that, I have seen amount of praise this guy has earned, let alone money. Just other day watching that video against Aussies, they were all over him praising every single move by him. He knows his body, his game and his life better than us. I admire him for whatever he has achieved so far. I actually adore his CLEAN and absolutely polite lifestyle. In an interview he mentioned that it takes him long time to recover from one day games and his body may not take it for long time. He should completely retire from ODIs and concentrate solely on test cricket. ditto for SCG and RD

Ram Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I shiver to think what will happen to our one day team without Sachin. He has not only been playing for himself, but Ganguly too. If he is gone, Ganguly's performance will come under greater scrutiny. And after all he is just 34. That is not old by current international cricket players standards. Maybe the 2 decades of cricket has taken the toll on him.

Often from his body language, we can read that he feels he is stretching it too much for his body..by playing these ODIs....

Final ODI against Aus is in Mumbai and final ODI against Pak is in Jaipur. I wish the last game against Pak was in Mumbai, him getting a 100 would have been a perfect goodbye to this form of game.

To imagine that the sight of the diminutive figure in Indian colours, with the Indian Flag planted proudly on his helmet marching out shadow batting as he makes his way to the wicket, looking up to the heavens to thank god and his dad for giving him the opportunity to play for India, will no longer be witnessed in the near future is hard to take. King Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I think it will be good for him to retire right after few important series' than hang around and play the likes of Bangladesh, Zimboks and the rest. It is inevitable he has to quit ODIs for his own good and his test career. A test career and results are more important than these ODIs. None will remember the scoreline of the ODIs as compared to test matches. It will take more than one to fill in for Tendulkar but it has to happen in the near future anyways. I'm quite confident India will unearth yet another fantastic batsman in the next couple of years.

Mandrake Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 While it will be gravely heartbreaking to see Sachin walk off into the twilight,I think we ought to respect his decision whenever he decides to call it quits.The man has given us numerous moments of pure joy and the decades have surely taken their toll on his mind and body though even in the evening of his illustrious career he remains a damn good batsman. With close to 400 ODI's under his belt,and with the next wcup too far away,I dont think Sachin has got anything left to achieve...
