Consider this...... Today, Police chief of Delhi was saying on tv they don't have enough manpower to guard 24/7. So why are our police force involved in VIP security? Let me tell you, Delhi Police has 20-30% (depending upon the time of the year/ events, etc) of resources alloted towards providing security to ministers, mp's, Parliamentarians. We already have 3-4 agencies/ private bodyguards for the job, then why Delhi Police? Secondly, just look at the quick responce of the Police in this case to nab the culprits because of nationwide protests. So why not this urgency in the other 100's of cases everyday? Delhi not safe. Period. Not only for women, shootings, killings, theft, etc. And yeah, it is our capital city.
Agree, but I truly believe the outrage has been more sustained than ever. We have been discussing about Delhi's rape capital status for sometime here on ICF but never have I seen so much anger for crime against women across the country. I am being the optimist and wish this truly brings a change.

That could be easily addressed. The Indian populace should be under no obligation to provide Security cover to any MP/MLA who has a pending court case against him/her. Political parties can bring that to motion and immediately bulk of security personnel could be freed. In fact many criminals use Security cover to avoid getting killed by their rivals. Once an MLA/MP you can kiss about being murdered goodbye. Wonder why that idea has never been mooted

+1. But how to start? We have politicians in our country ala Mayawati, who have 5-6 NSG commandos guarding them while millions of ordinary citizens (especially women) can't even find one policeman on the streets when they need it the most (at secluded places, after 11 pm, etc....).

The entire traffic stopping is not new in India but washing the road is taking it to another level. Also, she always sits higher and on the chair while everybody has to sit on the floor when they meet her ( i mean normal people)

I don't think this would have been such a big news if an ordinary village girl was raped. Such a shame and double standards.
yaa you are a bit right..this become highlighted because of the brutal acts and next it came in front of media..many cases are suppressed..you know we heard yesterday that a lady got raped on uttam nagar metro station's public toilet on 20th Dec at night..and now these cops are hiding these news..its not even available on google..but in Delhi people are talking about this.. it was mentioned something on a link of ABP news..but I am not able to post it here...search on the google..

In Maharashtra a group of boys were used to harassing a particular group of girls. Close on the heels of the gang-rape case, these guys followed the girls and got up on a bus and started their usual stuff. This time, the girls raised hell and the driver drove the bus straight to a police station where all the boys were arrested. The last I heard, they had signed an apology bond and their parents had been invited the police station.

Now, three-year-old girl raped in play-school in Delhi

A three-year-old girl was raped in a play-school in West Delhi, prompting the Delhi government on Friday to ask the police to take stringent action against its principal. The child was allegedly raped by the husband of the owner of the school on Monday in west Delhi's Sagarpur area, and the incident came to light two days later, police said. After the incident, the victim got ill and her family members admitted her in a hospital where doctors informed them that she has been raped. Women and Child Development Minister Kiran Walia, after review of the situation in a meeting of Delhi Commission for Protection of Child's Right (DCPCR), asked the DCPCR chairman to initiate action. The Commission also recommended the police to close the school till further orders and that a closure report should be placed before the Commission by December 24. Ms Walia asked the police to invoke stringent provisions against the culprit and directed them to invoke Section 23 of Juvenile Justice Act on the land lady who was running the school. She also directed Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital to provide medical care to the victim and asked the child psychologist to submit reports regularly to DCPCR and Child Welfare Committee.

The country really belongs to the elites. Most of us are only filling space.
Yes, it's strange that the central government isn't responding to the public outpouring. The PM should address the nation and take responsibility to deliver action. From speedy trial and sentencing to assuring complete medical support for the girl. Why let things escalate to this stage? On the other hand the outpouring from all over is not because the girl was special but because she wasn't. Protests in urban centres all over from Delhi, Kanpur, Lucknow to Chandigarh, Jaipur, Calcutta are spurred on by the modus operandi of the crime. Taxis and autos you can be wary of but buses are not expected to be dangerous traps in the guise of a trusted space. And Delhi is further aggravated that the bus did not go away to some outskirts or a garage, the perps chose to drive around in the middle of the city fully knowing that there is no danger of being caught or found out. That is what makes this incident an indictment against the ineffectual and blase nature of DP.

Hey that's unfair. MMS is observing long term maun vrat while Soniaji has written letters to Sushilji & Sheilaji.
