ToughCookie
Truly a shameful moment for India and Delhi in particular. It will take ages for the general public to change its attitude, notwithstanding the protests. Sadly, this is how even the aam Delhi janta treated her when she needed help most .. Time for Delhi and India to introspect. Because it is easy to express outrage on facebook and join a crowd to protest which in turn gives you more pics to be uploaded on facebook and be a hero... because it is easy to remain a bystander while the victims want your help...because it is easy to blame the politicians and the police for everything... somewhere behind this outrage is the guilt of the aam janta which needs someone else to blame..anyone except themselves. ToughCookie
Really someone might be escape without any punishment??? seriously?? ****! no one will escape punishment, in our country you escape if, among other things, you are from a politician's family or belong to Bollywood ( Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan), or are supported by fundamentalists(any religion)... but the rapists dont belong to these demographics so no escaping punishment for them. vvvslaxman
RIP. Hope the culprits get severely punished. I hear rape is still going on in Delhi.
vvvslaxman
I think some unorthodox methods need to be employed. Instead of waiting for rape , just identify the frequent spots where rapes occur. Case them thoroughly with plain clothed police. Set up traps with fully armed and communication equipped women cops. Skillful police work should be able to reduce it drastically.

Majority of the crimes against women occur in backwater regions of the country. Skillful policing will do diddly squat. People have no fear of the law because Law and Order in India is a wounded decaying mass of flesh. Trying to address certain types of crimes is like putting a bandage on the wound while the corpse hemorrhages internally. You address the entire problem or don't bother. Though as you said, in rural areas it has more to do with awareness and education, what about cities like Mumbai/ Delhi? Many educated people commit these crimes, take drugs/ liquor and misbehave with females. I don't think the root cause is so simple as that. It is deep down our society/ values which are today corrupt tot the core.

Indian men are eunuchs. Why do you think majority of the violent crimes are against kids and women? A strong enforcement agency would have everything in check in little time. At that point societal values are irrelevant and can go to hell because each resident (I wouldn't call these animals citizens) is held accountable for his actions.
