This is flawed. Different formats need different bowlers. Jimmy Anderson is often poor in ODI but very good in Tests. Matthew Hoggard was a superb Test bowler but barely ever played ODIs. Monty Panesar is another.

I disagree. Dinda has shown himself to be a poor ODI bowler. Vinay is an adequate ODI bowler. Dinda is slightly better in T20s but not enough to be significant. Dinda is a deceptively inconsistent bowler in First Class cricket. One season he is great, the next he is poor. Such a bowler can never be a Test bowler. Compare Dinda's season by season analysis to Vinay's. Vinay always performs well over a season. Dinda sometimes has good seasons and sometimes has awful seasons. I doubt he'll ever be selected but I think Vinay has a chance (not a large chance, but a significant chance) of being a consistent good Test bowler for India. I don't think Dinda has that potential, because he has some good seasons and some awful seasons and the awful seasons will get him dropped. EDIT: Dinda is actually a much better T20 bowler than Vinay. But hell, I stick by my verdict because I value FC/Test cricket more.

lol im going more for balance here if pathan comes back and this kumar stays in team we cannot have vinay in team he is hopeless at end dinda still is a better option even vs england he some how got match till last ball vinay would have let it finish in 18th over :hysterical: so for me dinda is better and about tests lets not even discuss there names we have better younger bowler then these guys and they actually have wicket taking ability!
