How about Dhawan for Mandeep?
saneindian Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Dhawan looks a dead duck against the moving ball. Look to be suited only for flat pattas, Mandeep on the other hand has a better defensive game than Dhawan and IMO is a better lambi race ka ghoda than Dhawan. Nadeem hasn't yet played for the A side , not sure if he is ready for international cricket. Abdulla on the other hand has had significant A side experience and has an exceptional List A record. Another name that I would be keen to look at is Kedar Jadhav. Awesome list A record with a great strike rate and bats in the lower middle order as well. Maybe rest Raina as well and get in Kedar Jadhav.

Its better to play him in ODIs first and see how he does against England because Ashwin was not really effective against them in tests especially Cook and the team needs a wicket taking spinner. If he fails, he can always go back to domestic cricket. Selectors need to take gambles like this to find players.
