CG Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I am not denying that. But you are looking at a specific issue. Look at the wider picture: Dinda: Short, wide, no wickets..... plenty of runs 135-140 k Ishant: Short, wide, half volleys, half trakkers.... unlucky, again 135k B.Kumar: Swing at the start. Full stop. Nothing else. Hardly 135k So with these resources, what alternative do we have? Shami Ahmed is untested yet. Zaheer is finished. Shreeshanth  With all his drawbacks, Yadav is a quick learner as we have seen in tests. Even if he is expensive (which actually every bowler in India is), he can be our wicket taker. Only bowler who bowls 145k consistently. I still feel given a long run, he will be very successfull even on Indian pattas. Did you even watch ishant bowl in the last match,Bhuv ability is to swing the new ball and thats his role we use 7 overs with new ball to get wickets and we use 2 new balls in odis now.
Magneto Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Now now.... don't go overboard. Kohli is the best bat in this team. period. prove me otherwise..... I am talking about past year and a half. We won atleast something thanka to this guy. We won nothing due to Kohli's contribution (apart from some useless dead rubbers). He has scored only one 50+ score in the last 15 knocks. :hehe: Overrated!
Number Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Gambhir gone cheaply again. Poor shot too.
Tridibans_16 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Did you even watch ishant bowl in the last match' date='Bhuv ability is to swing the new ball and thats his role we use 7 overs with new ball to get wickets and we use 2 new balls in odis now.[/quote'] Did you watch the countless other matches where Ishant performed like a Zimbabwean bowler? Ishant has been pathetic even after his numerous comebacks. Only one match he did well. If he does well today, then we can say that he is back in rythm. We cant pass on judgements based on 1 match. Hence I am judging him based on the previous 5 matches. He is useless. If Kumars role is just to bowl good balls upfront, I don't think he would me much useful in the long run. Same as P. Kumar. How can you be sure it will swing 100%. Like what happened in the 2nd T20 and the 2nd ODI after the first 2-3 overs. B.Kumar needs to find some more varieties to trouble the batsmen. Maybe some well disguised slower balls. @ Saurav. What the heck man. Chokoli overdrive pe uska defence karta hai and you are the complete extreme. If not for him, we would have lost that Hobart match, Asia cup match to Pak, SL ODIs where he scored 3-4 hundreds. He did well in the T20WC as well. Was the only Indian to reach 3 figures in Australia. Please don't let me get started on Tailunt.

Magneto Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 We hardly won anything in the last 15 matches. hence I said past 1 and a half year :winky: Those 15 knocks include 3 T20 matches that we won and one Test. :giggle: Kohli choked in the 2 most important matches in the T20 WC - against Aus and SA, and scored when Pak had posted an ultra-low score. All he's done to become 'tailunted' is to hammer SL. :finger:
rkt.india Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Looks like Vijay will be in. Viru, GG both out. Pujara might be in too.

JaFanatic Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 vijay is in good form in list A matches right? if so i wont be dissapointed with his selection
Tridibans_16 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Vijay no no no no no no no. Overrated IPL hack. Exactly. Should select Rohit Sharma, Gambhir and Sehwag.
Cevno Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Exactly. Should select Rohit Sharma' date=' Gambhir and Sehwag.[/quote'] Nah, should select Mukund ahead of Vijay if it comes to it. But Rahane and Pujara should be ahead of them first followed by Tiwary if he's fit. Hell, i'd even pick Dhawan and Bist ahead of him.

These 4 should be kept in the loop. They are our future. Yuvraj/ Dhoni etc. will not be there forever 9in the ODIs. even they need replacements.

Sooda Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 ^ And Jalaj Saxena!! England are deliberately playing Sree cautiously and given him a wicket so he can play for India and concede 7 rpo as per his usual ODI standards :P
