maniac Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Pujara got owned in SA. Looked clueless like he didn't belong. Kohli would have been much better there. And Pujara has a poor attitude' date=' [b']he is never being aggressive on the field and hence lacks any real leadership qualities. True Bhajji has all of those...Only if he could perform on the field.:icflove: But on Topic Pujara did well to negotiate good bowling but again sometimes tailenders play gritty knocks too....what matters is runs...which atleast Kohli has delivered occasionally.
Old guy Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 So You rate Pujara's knocks against a weak NZL side and England in home over some of the Knocks Kohli has played in Aus,SA and Eng albeit in dead rubbers or in losing casues to come to the conclusion? I like Pujara too but I am afraid he is behind Kohli as of now. i saw those knocks just cos they were in australia does not make them better knocks that knock in mumbai was awesome..:hatsoff: and there was reverse swing in india ..same kohli who scored in australia struggled here no ? :winky: that 100 was on flat road..pujara can easily score a ton there it was no big deal it was big deal for him cos before that he was struggling in tests and knock like that gives u confidence ..otehr then that u cant say it came on very tough track or anything perth knock was good i agree..
India-KXIP fan Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 True Bhajji has all of those...Only if he could perform on the field.:icflove: But on Topic Pujara did well to negotiate good bowling but again sometimes tailenders play gritty knocks too....what matters is runs...which atleast Kohli has delivered occasionally. I think he didn't even cross 20 in 3 innings. Totally outclassed, every other Indian batsman got more runs. Probably even Raina. Lucky for India Bhaji ripped through SA lineup otherwise more Pujara's would have meant 3-0 loss.
Old guy Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 huh? are u really gonna compare that south africa knock with kohli's knock which came after tons of failures on much much easier tracks and against much easier bowling? :hmmm: not to mention dale steyn was at his absolute best and he only got him out with a peach which even shane warne would have been proud of :P

One time he was bounced out. Pujara is garbage against short deliveries, very few young Indian batmen have proven their abilities against the short ball overseas.

Pujara is garbage against short deliveries' date=' very few young Indian batmen have proven their abilities against the short ball overseas.[/quote'] so was kohli in his tests vs west indies
Lord Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 :hmmm: thing is even ur president is big fan of him:winky: its all just fun :P no,we seriously believe what is stated there in OP:agree:
Lord Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I think by saying Anti twice...he hates Kohli with more passion...make him your consultant I say :giggle: J/K yeah lol:giggle:

Hence my conclusion-Please note the bolded lines I have enough data to substantiate that Kohli has potential but please note -Not calling him the best thing ever to happen to Indian cricket As far a Pujara-Had a great start to his career but not enough to rate him above Kohli yet-But not saying he can be in the future Hence-As of now Kohli is the one
India-KXIP fan Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 so was kohli in his tests vs west indies Yeah but he still showed glimpses of his talent. Pujara on the other hand was outclassed. Was 22-23 not even that young, was facing the old ball at number 6 as well. You'd expect any half decent talent to show some ability in one out of 3 innings but no he was totally clueless. Didn't reach 20. People compare him to Dravid who stepped up in his first overseas game

Pujara is garbage against short deliveries' date=' very few young Indian batmen have proven their abilities against the short ball overseas.[/quote'] True...Not sold on his ability to play quality pace in helpful conditions but one thing he has over the likes of Raina and Yuvi is patience he might be able to fight it out to score some runs in the future, that's why not writing him off but at the same time not bigging him up either

Lord Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 its too early to compare them imo,Pujara has his own strengths.I think we'd have more idea after SA tour.I back Pujara to do well there

Toughest track and Steyn. Yeah coolstory. Gambhir, Sehwag, SRT, Dhobi and even Harbhajan got many runs. Everyone outscored him. Showed no ability at all and now he is main number 3. One bad series does not mean much as long as you show glimpses of ability like Kohli did. A non proven player showing no ability has no place in the side.
maniac Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 its too early to compare them imo' date='Pujara has his own strengths.I think we'd have more idea after SA tour.I back Pujara to do well there[/quote'] Exactly....Too early to rate Pujara and too soon to write-off Kohli going by what he has done so far and that's my whole point. As I said Pujara has not done enough to go above Kohli in the pecking order.
Old guy Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 all im saying here is i think puajra has better chance to do well in south africa then kohli i think kohli is good but pujara is just better at test matches and if u go for technique kohli is far from ideal and fishes ball far to much for my liking and way he played vs junaid wasnt good sight..but i guess he will bounce back... thing with pujara is he deals with things like this so easily...if it swings he just leaves ball away out side off stump ..kohli is still learning how to not get frustrated after 1 tight spell imagine philander, steyn bowling then morke coming.. there wil be times no runs will come and kohli after such passages just throws away his wicket
Lord Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Toughest track and Steyn. Yeah coolstory. Gambhir, Sehwag, SRT, Dhobi and even Harbhajan got many runs. Everyone outscored him. maniac Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 kohli is the one? how come great one was so useless at home? Did you read my entire post? Did I deny he had a bad series? All I am saying is atleast 'I' have seen enough of Kohli to judge him as an allround player and form judgement on his strengths and weaknesses but can't say the same for Pujara. How does that automatically make Pujara better than Kohli?
Old guy Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Pujara didnt show glimpses of ability in SA? mandeep showed more talent in his 5 ducks :giggle:
