Trundler27 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 wth are ppl talking about with his strike rate???? looks like no one has seen him bat of late in List A games and even ranji for that matter  Mandeep singh probably had more ducks this season than the number of dot balls faced by pujara :giggle:
Number Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 and Pujara cant? try to think outside of IPL ++ too many pajama league lovers here.
yoda Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Mandeep singh probably had more ducks this season than the number of dot balls faced by pujara :giggle: :hysterical:
yoda Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 But the anchor should at least be able to rotate strike and not get bogged down. Pujara is going to defend the first 4 balls of an over and then take a single on the 5th. We need a batsman who can get atleast a single every 2-3 balls. And if you are looking for a anchor' date= then Mandeep Singh should have gotten a chance instead. He has shown that he can play on tough tracks and can handle Intl level pressure. Can you also tell us the series result? :hahaha:
Jersey #10 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 :giggle::haha:He didn't do well in IPL unlike Saurabh Tiwary' date=' Manish Pandey, Bisla, Valthaty.[/quote'] :haha:comparing pujara with the likes of valthaty and bisla and worse yet Tiwari :haha:
SLICKR392 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 If a slow player such as Bell can transform into a brilliant ODI batsman, so can Che.
Clarke Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Even Kohli was poor in the previous season. IPL isn't where you judge one's ODI form. :giggle::haha: :haha:comparing pujara with the likes of valthaty and bisla and worse yet Tiwari :haha:
Sandeep99 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Mandeep Singh over Pujara?! Really? I mean, there has to be a limit to stupidity.. this is just LOL And I'm sure more than half of the guys over here judge players by their stats rather than their actual game... And regional rants here really get me flummoxed!
Clarke Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Its all right, one more collapse. Pujara can play the 2nd odi.
Sandeep99 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Its all right' date=' one more collapse. Pujara can play the 2nd odi.[/quote'] It's Rajkot... Even Bangladesh won't collapse here..:haha:
CSK Fan Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Lots of wannabe Afridi fans on this thread. Will take an India 150 all out as long as its for a strike rate over 110. Which idiot worries about strike rates when team is getting 160 all out most times?
King Tendulkar Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Pujara dont need rest. he just wants to bat, so let him bat for f sake
Vivek.S.123 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 The big question is: Can Pujara accelerate his innings and shift gears after he has laid down a solid foundation? Can he atleast get a SR over 85 like Kohli (When in form) ?

Can he atleast get a SR over 85 like Kohli (When in form) ? Who cares set a solid foundation and let big hitters with wickets in hand explode 15 overs to go. Anyhow whole point is to give him run and develop this as well, although may already be able to do it. He will bet top 3 in 2015 world cup in aus. So why waste time, put him and let him develop.

Can he atleast get a SR over 85 like Kohli (When in form) ? scored a 50 in 17 balls in FC game recently. scored a 156 not out off 120 balls in challenger trophy.
NareshK Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 The big question is: Can Pujara accelerate his innings and shift gears after he has laid down a solid foundation? Can he atleast get a SR over 85 like Kohli (When in form) ? He has a List A(One day) average of 57. Is it possible to do better than this ? Dont just go by his batting in tests. In tests, he needs to be cautious and strike rate is not really important. In any case, there are plenty of batsmen who can accelerate in this lineup just as long as one batsman plays anchor and stays till 35th over. Gambhir used to do this very well but he is struggling now, especially in helpful conditions for pacers. Gambhir wont be dropped that easily because he has been a regular batsman in the lineup for many years and has done quite well. He has an average of 41. There are already other newbies in this side like Rahane, Jadeja, Ashwin etc. So Dhoni will be cautious before he plays another debutant. I hope Gambhir gets back to form(will still struggle overseas when there is bounce and swing) or Pujara plays in the side soon.
veer Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 What I am afraid about is that Dhoni lets Pujara play and slots him at no.5, 6 or 7.. The way Dhoni operates, this is very much possible.. and could be disaster. :cantstop:

Crookbond Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Why are people questioning Pujara's SR? He hasn't played a single ODI (in the new rules) as yet.
vamos_rafa Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Unless there's fitness issues with Pujara, this should not be the consideration to drop him. He's a young guy and should look to bat as much as he can till the time his fitness is not hampered. Now, the only slot available for tomorrow is that of Gambhir's or UV's to an extent(considering UV also bats at 4 now which is the last where Pujara should be slotted in). I don't see Gambhir being dropped for some baffling reason and UV can bowl a bit which makes hi case stronger. Or maybe there's some serious trolling by Dhoni as prior to the 3rd ODI, he had said that Sehwag may play but instead Jinx played. BTW, do we have an Anti-"Jinx" in our team??
