CG Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 i mean look at south africa tour this guy was agressive and really played well in that series Which Southafrica tour you are talking about .He has floped in odis in sa.
yoda Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 He is currently the best ODI batsman in the world by far. Maybe the best Indian ODI batsman ever. Wrong and wrong.
Number Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 i mean look at south africa tour this guy was agressive and really played well in that series Dhoni has been poor in S Africa ODIs. His record is great in every other country.
Old guy Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Which Southafrica tour you are talking about .He has floped in odis in sa. i meant tests... he will never be consistent in tests but with agressive approach he can survive away from home otherwise he bats worse then ashwin
vamos_rafa Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 i meant tests... he will never be consistent in tests but with agressive approach he can survive away from home otherwise he bats worse then ashwin He has done okayish in tests in SA. But in ODIs,he has been horrible.
BeautifulGame Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Wasn't Dhoni our best batsman in 2007 SA tour when we lost 4-0 ?
CG Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 i meant tests... he will never be consistent in tests but with agressive approach he can survive away from home otherwise he bats worse then ashwin He has tried aggresive approach also. But its hard in tests when the ball is moving to hit out.Unless your defence improves its hard to be consistent abroad.
Old guy Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 He has done okayish in tests in SA. But in ODIs' date='he has been horrible.[/quote'] its gr8 perfmance if u consider conditions and that he is wicket keeper imo his innings along with sachin's in first game changed tone of series
vamos_rafa Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Was Dhoni our best batsman in 2007 SA tour when we lost 4-0 ? He scored a 50 odd in one of the ODIs.
Old guy Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 He has tried aggresive approach also. But its hard in tests when the ball is moving to hit out.Unless your defence improves its hard to be consistent abroad. like i said he will never be consistent but 40 odd quick runs are better then struggling 6-8 runs he normally scored not asking him to slog but to play with attitude of one day matches
vamos_rafa Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 its gr8 perfmance if u consider conditions and that he is wicket keeper imo his innings along with sachin's in first game changed tone of series :omg: what have you just said! I have been laughed upon whenever I mentioned this. But glad someone saw it that way. Also, he did very well in the 2006 test series. Scored a 40 odd in places like Durban and also the 1st test. Infact in Durban he almost did a Lord's 2007, but threw it away.

Infact in Durban he almost did a Lord's 2007, but threw it away. come on ur blown away in first innings.. people laughing at u and u come back fighting and hammer the same bowlers...all the fear was gone then i knew after that we will do well in remaining tests Odis Is diff ball game. There are not 3-4 slips and are not maintained for a duration ' date='captains generally are defensive.Dhoni tried to hit out in australia and looked bad.dhoni ius not that great cutter of the ball so he goes for drive and gets out on bouncy tracks.[/quote'] ok i agree with this but whenever he has done good in tests ..he has been positive.. im not expecting much but by wicket keeping standards as a batsman he is not bad.. captain i hate every move he makes now a days :((
cricketpitch Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Dhoni averages 61 in Australia, 41 in England, 92 in NZ. His only real failures are in SA and WI where he averages 22 and 34 respectively. He has done extremely well in most of the countries. Fantastic ODI bat and has won us countless games chasing a target. His captaincy debacle should not mask what he has done or is doing for Indian ODI team with the bat. He is still by a long way India's best ODI bat at the moment (After Sachin's retirement) Can't compare Dhoni with Amla or Sachin as they opened the batting completely different roles to Dhoni's in the Indian team. He is a finisher and a pretty good one at that. You would not find a better number 6 in world cricket at the moment who averages 52 and is so consistent. Please don't bring Dhoni's test record here as we are talking about his ODI performances.

Sidhoni Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 sachin ganguly and dravid are ahead:headshake: Sachin vs Dhoni is a debate for another day. But Ganguly and Dravid, seriously?
JaFanatic Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Sachin vs Dhoni is a debate for another day. But Ganguly and Dravid' date=' seriously?[/quote'] of course they are better than him:hatsoff:
ganeshran Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Dhoni is the best finisher ever. No doubt about it.
cricketman Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Dhoni is definitely a better batsman either Dravid or Ganguly IMO LOOOOOOOOOOOL :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
SLICKR392 Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 LOOOOOOOOOOOL :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: He was referring to ODIs.
