Maybe, maybe not. We are all different. I know I was personally quite a handful and these teachers are some of the people who have shaped me where I am, and touching their feet is one way to show my own appreciation :winky:

There can NEVER be only one way to do anything, let alone touching feet. When it comes to showing respect to elders, people define their own mechanisms. I, for example, would never mention Gulzar by name. I always write Gulzar saab. Nobody forces me to do that, certainly on anonymous website. You can call Gulzaar saab as Gulzar of course :agree:

Teachers get little thanks in India in general. I know some of whom who cherish such gestures from a very rare student for their lifetime. Would you then say it made a difference?

I have known people grope girls after feet touching. There is an older celebrity who is known for this and young girls are told "unka pair chhuna, par thoda door se". And still the girls have to do it because it's the "Indian culture". Let me tell you something about Indian societies and Indian culture. Our society is full of perverts and scums and our children need to learn that early on. Where I come from, girls are NOT supposed/told to touch feet of any elders.

Only in rare cases married girl, 'a bahu' is supposed to touch the feet of elders. I don't touch feet of anyone, I just touch 'knee', if it is aunty etc then I massage her thigh too. :haha:
