Subeshkumar Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 For few things I think I am proud to be an Indian..:)
vvvslaxman Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Going by history pakistan would make up a story that they also tested an underwater missile testing next day.
KeyboardWarrior Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Going by history pakistan would make up a story that they also tested an underwater missile testing next day. means pak never had any Missile Tech ? :hmmm:
SLICKR392 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 India and China are the only two countries to have officially pledged to "No First Use" doctrine. US, UK, France, Russia, Pakistan and Israel have rejected this policy and maintained they will use it as preemptive strike to defend their interests. So at the end of the day, there are six nations out there who are trigger happy I've read India was the only country to have that doctrine. It's pretty stupid in some sense. You only respond after a country nukes you.
CG Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I've read India was the only country to have that doctrine. It's pretty stupid in some sense. You only respond after a country nukes you. Thats why you need great second strike capability. With Slbms and mirv missiles it gives a credible second strike capability even if enemy launches first strike.
yoda Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I've read India was the only country to have that doctrine. It's pretty stupid in some sense. You only respond after a country nukes you. We have a few others for company, but I don't expect the other two to keep up with any commitments when it comes time for war, so yea we are the stupid one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_first_use

Dumbbells Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Nuclear war is something I can't even imagine. Its scary.
Lord Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 oops..I read it as "underwear ballistic missile launched" and I was like :WTF: :hysterical::hysterical:
vayuu1 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Cap is to address such concerns' date=' Once the technologies like re entry are mastered range is not a problem. Also its mirv so it can launch nuclear strikes agianst many places on a single warhead like peacekeeper.[/quote'] U didn't get the point , I was talking about the range and not about mirv ,and it is not MIRVed yet .
CG Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 U didn't get the point ' date=' I was talking about the range and not about mirv ,and it is not MIRVed yet .[/quote'] I said cap is for addressing nato concerns.Range is not a problem when technologies have been mastered.I was taking about mirv in general as technology.

KeyboardWarrior Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Well' date=' doesn't it mean that India and China can or could never have a nuclear war against each other as long they follow the NFU policy?[/quote'] No
CG Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Well' date=' doesn't it mean that India and China can or could never have a nuclear war against each other as long they follow the NFU policy?[/quote'] India has no first use against non nuclear weapon states and even china policy is not unknown.
surajmal Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 U didn't get the point ' date=' I was talking about the range and not about mirv ,and it is not MIRVed yet .[/quote'] Range of A5 isn't capped at 5000 km. Its probably more like 7000 km. I remember watching some Saraswat interview after the A5 test and he was asked about the upper limit of A5(or something to that effect) and he just slyly nodded and gave a convoluted response. Its the right approach. Don't piss of the west until you have 5-6 arihants traversing the open seas.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 It is the K 4 or BO5 that was launched yesterday.TOI is perhaps misreporting it.K 15 has a range of 3000km.Enough to take care of our enemies. Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2 Wrong k15 has a range of 700-750km' date='k4 range is 3500 km ,k5 range is 5000km SLBM version of Agni 6 6000 to 8000 km[/quote'] Sorry typo.India inducted the K 4 or BO5 with a range of 3000km.K 15 has a range of 700k. Agni 5 has range of around 6000k so it covers all of Europe and most of Australia. So in essence only Americas is oit of bound for India.Agni 6 or Surya would cover that. What we need now is a credible defence system againist hostile missiles. We dont need a system to defend againist ICBMs which is very difficult but a good one againist the MRBMs of Padosis. That's why the navy's ambition of having atleast 8-10 ssbn(ballistic missile submarine) and ssgn(cruise missile submarine ) is very vital but I am not happy with 4 silos( where missile is placed in submarine) , we need to have atleast 12- 16 silos like Chinese tang class and Jin class ,if not more like Russian ,French and American submarines ,more silos means more capability ,agree with CG that second strike capability is important ,that's why a SLBM ,slcm and alcm( air launched cruise missiles) are very important ,for me more than arihant ,aridaman and arihant follow submarines are very important and that's why I always admire indian navy more then army and airforce coz they alway look for indigenous products be it arihant, naval tejas also if iam not wrong they also supported the idea of naval amca(advanced medium combat aircraft) there is lot to admire as far as Indian navy is concerned .Lots of jv going and technology provided by foreign companies will help the domestic setups like drdo, isro and there subsidiaries ,Indian defense sector is the next big thing in the future and will provide lots of opportunity to young talent.
vayuu1 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 @ sunny 2k , bro, that is where aad(advanced air defence),pad(prithvi air defence) is very important, also the defence system against an ICBM (5k or more) will be tested in near future, it's good to have option and the improvement in Indian economy had certainly provided that:two thumbs up:

Army on the other hand is thoroughly compromised by babus and arms dalaals. Their attitudes towards Arjun and handling of artillery procurement/development tells me all I need to know. BTW, I wouldn't worry too much about the 4 silos in arihant 1. Naval construction yards in India aren't very experienced in building big/complicated ships. Just look at the handling of Scorpenes. Once they get the experience, I'm sure they will build bigger nuke subs (IAC2 is suppose to bigger than IAC1 for instance).
