Pagalpanti Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 He's been appointed the captain for ROI. Surely if Dhoni gets the axe are selectors considering Sehwag as his replacement? Worrying sign then, don't see him as any better option. His place itself is under scrutiny.
bharat297 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Yep India have painted themselves into a pretty bad situation atm. Maybe Sehwag will be a temporary measure until either Kohli or Pujara get truly settled.
Vivek.S.123 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 No, Sehwag is even worse than Dhoni. Gambhir, Tendulkar, and Dhoni all will be dropped from Tests pretty soon. In the future, our team will feature a lot of youngsters who have captaincy experience (Mukund, Dhawan, Pujara, Mandeep, Kohli, Rahane, Tiwary)
vamos_rafa Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Maybe he may be the skipper in the Oz series as well. Dhoni is not playing this and those may be a sign of things to come.
Small_town_boy Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I think shewag will play in the middle order instead of opening in irani trophy ...so if he bats well there he will get a go from the selectors... But to be the skipper he should prove himself with positive performance and attitude ..
Marut Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 If Sehwag can be a more responsible bat, he is a better option than Dhoni at this time. Sehwag is a match winner in test matches unlike Dhoni the hack - he can lead by example. Sehwag should sacrifice the opening slot and experiment coming in at 4,5, and 6 and own that position from now, till he retires.

But for that too happen, we need somewhat stable pair of openers at the top & I am not sure if the team mgmt might experiment in the Aus series
King Tendulkar Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 No, Sehwag is even worse than Dhoni. ) agree
Lord Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 no,GG,Kohli,Pujara in the team.so difficult to say Sehwag is the next captain choice.maybe hes not even certain to make the team
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Sehwag is arrogant, irresponsible and has no passion to be leader. He is not even worthy of his place in the team how he can lead and be an example to youngster is baffling
Sidhoni Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Sehwag has been in horrible form and his place in the side is itself not confirmed.
diga Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 lets give a chance other than Dhoni to see how they respond in real match situations... test captaincy is still far & depends on a lot of factors.
The Outsider Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Sehwag would be an excellent choice. Will allow him the freedom to move in the middle order and have a productive 2-3 years. I don't believe it will happen though - Dhoni, the idiot, is here to stay.

I don't believe it will happen though - Dhoni' date= the idiot, is here to stay. For a start he can do that in the Irani Trophy itself. Not sure if he will do it though. As for him having a productive 2-3 years, unfortunately we play most of our series till 2015 away from home in SA, NZ, Eng and Aus. Going by Sehwag's performance there despite being in decent form, its difficult to see him score runs irrespective of where he bats. Not sure how the captaincy will help him not to throw away starts as he himself said yesterday "I will not change my batting style".

Every player go through bad patch but they do something about it, while Sehwag as been as casual as he's ever been. Thats the way he plays we all know but this time the poor run has been long.
