Trundler27 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 both these guys need to perform in IPL if they harbour any hopes of playing in the national side... ranji can only get you so far in India :dontknow: Our selection policies or the lack thereof is truly astounding... Unadket can be considered good enough to play a freaking TEST match due to a decent u-19 showing but Sandeep who does that followed by a stellar domestic season is not even picked for the ROI side.... Panauti's like Veenie and mithun and now binny make it to the side without anything to show for it
G_B_ Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nayar deserved his shot. But i get a feeling as he is 29 the selectors want to induct young blood. Thats why he was over looked. Nayar will probably go down the same route as Badrinath
rkt.india Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Selectors dont pick Pankaj as they said he lacked pace but what about Veenie and Mithun? Are they second coming of Akhtar and Lee?
NareshK Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 ^^Mithun has the height and build and he generally bowls around 135+ and he is still only 23. Vinay is not good enough for test cricket IMO.

Vinay is not good enough for test cricket IMO. Mithun does not have anything, too one dimensional crap bowling action. Until, he improves his action, he is going to go anywhere.
NareshK Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Mithun does not have anything' date=' too one dimensional crap bowling action. Until, he improves his action, he is going to go anywhere.[/quote'] When was the last time you saw him ? IPL ? He has improved his bowling and was consistent this Ranji season. As I said, he bowls 135+ and is tall and gets the bounce and he is young. He will improve with experience.
rkt.india Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 FirstpostSports @FirstpostSports Abhishek Nayar has been added to the India ‘A’ squad, for the three-day game against Aus, to be played at Chennai from 16-18 Feb #AboutTime

He bowl mainly in 128-135K range only, does swing or seam the ball much too. He had played Challenger trophy as well.
G_B_ Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 he is in the squad if he plays or not I dont know. Nayar has been the best player for mumbai in the ranjis. Performing as an allrounder. Crucially his runs have come at a time when mumbai have lost wickets and were up against it.
Straight Drive Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Nayar selected for the A team versus Aussies. He has been a prolific Ranji cricketer over many Ranji seasons. Deserved the chance and hope he performs well in that match.

vishalvirsingh Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Selectors dont pick Pankaj as they said he lacked pace but what about Veenie and Mithun? Are they second coming of Akhtar and Lee? i think thats a wise call by selectors... not picking guys who r too slow......if pankaj is still <133k bowler , he wont suceed in international cricekt. but i agree to rkt ,do the selectors think that VK and mithun are 140 k bowlers? are VK and mithun around 140k
