kubrickian Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 BCCI doesnt want to accept DRS because they are not convinced by its accuracy or usefulness or whatever and dont want to spend millions of dollars to technology providers for using it. So when BCCI doesnt want to use it, why is ECB putting pressure on it to accept it ? Not just them, English commentators and ex cricketers are also trying to put pressure on BCCI into accepting DRS and shelling out money and making them do something they dont want to do. Am I the only one who can see this is blackmail ? Its like a salesman going to someone and asking them to buy some product that he doesnt need and when he refuses, throw a hissy fit and bring all his friends and make a big protest and force him to buy it.

Seems right imo. But I think even a slightest threat from BCCI to pull out will ensure no DRS.

Its a push in that direction. ECB with these technology providers just want to have a share of the money BCCI is making and hence they are doing this drama. ECB, English media, commentators, ex-players are basically trying to extort money from India. Shame on them.

The opposition from BCCI has been on the of effectiveness of DRS, not the money involved in implementing it. The discussion about money doesn't arise until BCCI is convinced about the accuracy of the system.

Hot spot and Hawk eye are unreliable.

How it benefits 'you' and 'me'. Have they provided us completely ad free Cricket? Have they provided us world class facilities at stadiums? Have they improved infrastructure in Tier III cities? No point in trying to make it perfect as even with DRS, some decisions will go wrong. They have to improve the quality of umpiring, increase the pool of elite umpires and agree with umpire's decisions and move along.

Cook got let off many times in the test series. He was plumb lbw twice but the umpire didnt give him out and he went out to score centuries. Check the highlights. In the ODI series, Yuvraj got a bad decision. The ball struck his glove first when he was sweeping against Tredwell and given lbw.Gambhir was given out caught behind when there was no nick. Rohit Sharma's lbw decision was going down when he was 80 odd. I can go on. As I said, decisions went against both the teams. It's not your money, not mine. Are you serious about this ? Where do you think BCCI makes money from ? You think they have money trees growing in their backyard ? Its money from the pockets of Indians who watch cricket. Do you think advertisers or tv networks will spend millions if Indians dont watch the game ? Get a clue.

Same for India-England series. I guess you're supporting this.
