how else do you pay MSD more than the salary cap imposed by IPL? Make him an employee & give him a salary which is above his IPL salary. Even Gayle got paid by way of being a brand ambassodor for Mallya? Do you think Gayle only earns 600k$ and MSD only earns 2M$?

feel sorry for the thousands of employees of India cements. Many of them would have been overlooked for the post of Vice President. N Srinivasan probably just wanted a weak,ineffectual , flunkey ...a figurehead for the post of Vice President and MS Dhoni was the ideal candidate.
Successful players do hold higher positions in organizations which employee them. Azhar was a chief manager with SBI, a post which a normal employee will tkae 20 years to reach at, Ganguly I believe is a Director at Sahara India, Sehwag is a senior manager with Reliance, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh are Senior Managers with Air India. The problem is not with the position MSD is being given, but the fact that he is with India Cements.

lol a compnay of the size of India Cements will have dozens of VPs. And these posts are normally given to players in the Marketing or Corporate Communications teams with not much of an active role. As for board of directors, normally a VP will have to get at least 3-4 promotions before being eligible for a director's post. BTW are you saying you wouldn't have been agitating if Dhoni was made say a manager and not a VP?

Rahul Dravid has been a VP in India Cements for a long time it seems. Btw, why are we discussing the designation of the post rather than potential conflict of interest?

How many sportspersons are vp or leader of a divison?It is highlighted because all the previous srini dhoni controversies also rhiti sports manages chennai super kings.

There is nothing wrong with the BCCI president and the Indian captain having a good relationship. There should be mutual trust between the two. But these two can't have any relationship outside cricket. It will have deep implications on team India. A board president should be a dispassionate guy who acts in the best interest of Indian cricket. The various ways in which Dhoni and Srinivasan have become related will now make this impossible. Factors other than cricketing logic will decide the fate of Indian cricket. Same with Dhoni. What he can't do now, knowing that he has the full backing of Srini? I am not surprised that BCCI does not have a rule in its rulebook that explicitly prohibits non cricketing business relationship between board members and players.

Damn, this means he sticks around CSK forever. :(( Yes, yes we are concerned about Indian team captaincy and conflict of interest, etc, but there is a TINA factor in play there.

Is India Cements private company or Govt. owned like Air India?
It is a public company, listed in the stock exchanges. The shareholders should take the management to task. :nono: It's become farcical now. Dhoni does not play in Irani Trophy, but plays for India Cements!

India Cements Q3 net profit down over 50%

CHENNAI: N Srinivasan-run India Cements posted an over 50% decline in third-quarter net profit, as higher power and freight costs offset a 15% growth in sales. The Chennai-based company's third-quarter net profit more than halved to Rs 26 crore from Rs 56 crore in the same period last year. Net sales rose nearly 15% to Rs 1,082.4 crore from Rs 941.52 crore.
Yahan par bhi dubana chaloo kar diya.. VP banate hi.. :facepalm:
