Double standard judicial/legal system of liberal india...
You are saying that giving death sentence to a terrorist who was the mastermind behind the attack on our Parliament & for the killing of innocent citizens is WRONG.. He was a terrorist & he met correct end, no matter what you people say.....

Why don't you adopt all those victims of Bharat sarkar ? You have one third of Kashmir and declare less than 10% of the territory as Azad and then give bhashan to others. As for Indian system, works better than Pakistani system, come and cry here when you hang your generals who allowed rapes and murders in Bangladesh.

I am definitely not a fan of Arundhati Roy and don't take any of her articles at face value. She keeps on making atrocious comments on terrorism in Kashmir, Naxalite movement and her comments on Mumbai attacks are well known. Yet this article from her on Afzal Guru hanging presents view point from other side. Disclaimer - Personally I believe that death penalty should be abolished completely. A perfect day for democracy http://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/a-perfect-day-for-democracy/article4397705.ece?homepage=true
She easily forgot to mention that he went to Pakistan for years of training and he also not only identified those attackers, he also bought them the car which was used in the attack and he also personally went to Srinagar to escort 3 of the terrorists to Delhi. All this form his confession which he never claimed to be forced on him.

Atleast we have a legal system and don't go around shooting 14 yr old girls. Never understood why Pakistanis think they have a right to comment on india when absolutely nothing is working for them as a nation.

wonder where this journalist was when hanging of Afzal Guru was delayed by around 8 years? Shouldn't he have these things come out in public immediately after this interview was conducted with full force. What is use of this now, irrespective of whether it is true or not, when person is already hanged, other than the fact that his article would get more publicity at this moment. Overall, it is saddening to see that apparently Indian populace increasingly demanding death penalties and courts too started believing that "collective Indian conscience" be satisfied by hanging somebody.

Tl;DR ? What does it say ?
It is written by a journalist who had met Afzal Guru in 2006. Afzal Guru had told him in then that he had absolutely nothing to do with parliament attacks and is completely innocent.

You have to wonder about human psychology after reading this? For the longest time Afzal remained the guy who attacked Parliament and deserved hanging. Such articles were either not printed or were shunned completely at the time. I am not sure how correct the article is but I do feel a sense of too late. Sadly. It also leaves you having a feeling of how Indian policy in Kashmir has always been a non-existential at best, and completely reactive at worst. You get a feeling of watching Maachis, where folks are driven to terrorism thanks to high handedness of Security forces.

feeling the pain of the pandits...does not mean to hang or kill people without proof...find the real guilty and then kill them i am not saying terrorists should not be hanged..i am saying the right person should be proven guilty and then hanged

"the collective conscience of the society will only be satisfied if capital punishment is awarded to the offender" Wonder if courts everywhere in world start giving capital punishment to SATISFY the "collective conscience of the society"...

That is just a word play of journalist. I am no war monger, but if there was an action to satisfy the collective conscience of Indian society, it wont be hanging a single man, but launching strikes against Pakistan that routinely has been poisoning the mind of such folks :winky:

Those guys who raped the girl in bus; ask them 10 yrs from now and all will say nothing of that sort happened. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be given whatever punishment they are given nor does it mean victims parents should pick up arms against Indian govt and go ahead with terror activities against civilians like us because govt of india failed to protect their daughter

Bhai jaan court ki rehne de, aap yeh batain ke in Mia ko aap ke desh mein training fruits bechnay ki mili thi ? Your government shamelessly trains people so that they can kill Indians and then shamelessly accuse Indians of conspiracy and then shamelessly ignore everything and use a statement out of context.
