urbestfriend Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I know Bhajji's selection to XI is crap, but not bothered about non-selection of Ojha. OJha has been our best bowler alright, but thats because others are crap, not because he is an excellent bowl.
Raghav_12 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 It is absolutely shocking call. I couldn't even have thought of that Ojha who was best bowler of previous series would be left out of the 11, just to accomodate CSK buddies.

Sandeep99 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 MSD thinks Ojha can be replaced by Sir you-know-who
yoda Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 MSD thinks Ojha can be replaced by Sir you-know-who  No, Sir you-know-who replaced Yuvraj/6th batter/allrounder spot. We can't go in with 5 bowlers with our useless batting.
Raghav_12 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Didn't know Harby who took Ojha's second spinner spot played for CSK. Harbhajan's inclusion in this test is decent call. Ojha could have stayed in team in place of Sir Jadeja. Also, I would have picked Ojha ahead of Ashwin as well based on performances in previous matches. Now Dhoni doesn't even bother to hide his partisan selections. He knows that he is untouchable as long as srini is there. His arrogance seems to have increased further.

So, you are saying Harbhajan ahead of Ashwin. Right call is Ojha as 1st or 2nd spinner and Harbhajan in place of one of the seamers if we decide to go with 3 spinners. Jadeja/Sixth bat is a different issue altogether, has nothing to do with Ojha or Harby or Ashwin.

Jadeja/Sixth bat is a different issue altogether, has nothing to do with Ohja or Harby or Ashwin. Ojha ahead of Jadeja Ojha ahead of Ashwin Ojha ahead of Harbhajan Harbhajan ahead of Jadeja There is nothing much to choose between Bhajji and Ashwin. Both have been absolute crap with ball off-late. Both have tried to use batting performances to justify their selections as the bowlers in team. Harbhajan's good record against Australia goes in his favour. Murali Vijay ahead of Rahane is another stupid call but not much surprised as that was expected from Dhoni.
kubrickian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ojha could have been more effective on this track because he flights the ball and he is consistent with line and length. Jadeja is more of a darter but I'm fine with him in the lineup because he is an excellent fielder and gives some batting depth. Without Jadeja and with 5 bowlers in the side, we are looking at a big tail. They could have gone with 4 spinners but they went with 2 seamers because there might be some reverse swing.
rkt.india Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ojha could have been more effective on this track because he flights the ball and he is consistent with line and length. This is one of the crappiest argument about Ojha. Panesar never flighted but was still the highest wicket taker and if he was consistent then would have bowled better against England. Leave first test and see what he did in the series, see what he did in the last match where Jaddu outbowled him.
CG Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 This is one of the crappiest argument about Ojha. why.
CG Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Really dropping a guy who is the only indian bowler to be in top 10 right now in icc test rankings is a joke.
yoda Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Ojha ahead of Jadeja Ojha ahead of Ashwin Ojha ahead of Harbhajan Harbhajan ahead of Jadeja There is nothing much to choose between Bhajji and Ashwin. Harbhajan's good record against Australia goes in his favour. Murali Vijay ahead of Rahane is another stupid call but not much surprised as that was expected from Dhoni. You cannot pick Harbhajan or Ashwin in place of Jadeja as he has taken the 6th/7th bat spot. Rahane is not an opener. He was found wanting even in ODIs. Vijay has a test 100 against the Aussies. Not as stupid as you are imagining it to be. Correct call here is Rahane in place of Jadeja and not opener slot. If you don't want Vijay as the opener, than Dhawan is your choice, not Rahane. Following would be my picks with 1st/2nd choices for the 2 slots. Sehwag, Vijay/Dhawan, Pujara, SRT, Kohli, Rahane, Dhoni, Ashwin, Ojha, B. Kumar, Harby/Ishant.

Leave first test and see what he did in the series, see what he did in the last match where Jaddu outbowled him. He just drops the ball and people say he is flighting. That is not flight. You need to give rip to the ball too like Panesar even when he does not flight the ball much.
saneindian Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Dhoni always has trick up his sleeve to troll the fans and dropping Ojha has to be among the best trollbait you will get.

He was the highest wicket taker in that game, got 9 wickets and he was still a lot better than Ashwin or Bhajji in the remaining games. And you are wrong about Panesar not flighting the ball. Did you even see the game ? He bowled 90-95 kph consistently but he did flight the ball often and got lot more turn and bounce on account of that.

Best does not always mean good. He was average bar first test. and I dont think he is accurate or consistent enough. Not me, even Maninder Singh thinks same about Ojha.
CG Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Best does not always mean good. He was average bar first test. we do not have warne and muruli or swann replacing him.
