Best bowler got dropped?

Ojha earned his spot. No question. But we cannot categorically come to a conclusion so and so is the best bowler like in Kumble days where he would 99% outbowl his fellow spinners . I don't say it is a bad thing One or the other or everyone stepping up to the plate.
Best bowler doesn't mean that Ojha is better than Kapil and Kumble or Warne. Best bowler means that he was the best bowler from India over the past season or so.

How is he the best bowler? He has been a good support for Ashwin who has been doing better than him in this season you are refering to. Was our best bowler against England but he averaged 30 something IIRC.

I disagree. Ojha was the best only for one series that too only early part of the series. Remaining series Ashwin was better. Difference between Ojha and Ashwin is, when Ashwin clicks he invariably routs the opposition in a match. In the last couple of years top 4 out of 5 match hauls were achieved by Ashwin, top 3 by Ashwin. India won 3 of them. One test almost won but we score levelled on last day. Ashwin's problem is when he is bad he is really bad. Hence the overall stats are somewhat even Top 8 match hauls are occupied either by Ashwin or Ojha. It proves Ashwin is a better match winner. Hence he won 3 man of the matches (mind you he didn't win MOM despite his 12 wicket haul in chennai), Ojha had none. Ashwin 12 wickets vs NZ Ashwin 12 wickets vs OZ Ashwin 9 wickets vs WI Ojha 9 wickets vs Eng Ashwin 9 wickets vs WI Ojha 7 wickets vs WI Ojha 7 wickets vs NZ Ojha 7 wickets vs WI

which series are u talking about. If england ashwin was the one who lost it after 1st test not ojha. Ashwin is currently better against weaker sides but he lacks consistency.Ojha has been known for consistency and keeping the end tight.

England is definitely not a great side against spin. 0-3 rout against Pakistan, 1-1 against SL, 101 all out in T20 against India pointed to routing of England in India. Infact England at times considered to be a worse team against spin than Bangladesh. Suddenly why is England is considered a stronger team against spin. Even the debutant spinner of NZ got few wickets against them on a patta.

Why is everyone after Ojha ... We all know he can't run through a side on his own since the day he made his debut. In the Mohali game, he got 4 wickets and even Ashwin got 4 wickets ... I know he got only tail - enders but Australian tail are better batters than the top order in Indian conditions as we have seen in this series. About today, yes he just had a bad day. Every batsman gets out on 0 when its not his day ... can't do much about it. Just wait till 2nd innings, if he is crap still, then start these kind of commenting. We, as Indian fans start criticizing very early. If Rahane fails tomorrow, some guys here will come out and say, he has no technique, got out like he did in ODIs, but not every day every one can perform. Hell Ashwin was miserable for the whole England series. Cut Ojha some slack.
Ojha is a compete hack

Pakistan spinners were too good and Eng were way too under prepared there.

Ashwin under pressure lost it and tried many variations and even lost his length .He struggled even in odis and changed his action ,but break did him well and he obviously worked on few things.Ojha Has played more of a holding role ,Leftarm spinners or finger spinners generally have.He seems to also tried to change his runup to be more closer to the stumps before the irani cup as he said in the interview to L.s on eve of the match. But it seems it has not worked.

So you agree England was better prepared for India trip. In the first test Ashwin also bowled well. INdia went off the boil from second test. Ojha didn't exactly set the world alight after first test. Just because Ashwin took wickets against a team they don't become automatically weaker sides. Against the same weaker side Ojha should perform even better logically isn't it?

What happens when that happens ... therein we need someone else and among everyone else Ojha has done well. I know Jadeja is really doing a good job and hence all these people are out against Ojha but ojha aint so bad as its been made out here. Does Ojha not deserve to have a bad day ... its like Pujara making a 0. He does not become bad because he made a 0. Another example is Kohli being our best Bat in Australia. He was never our best bat in that series ... Sachin, Dravid and Laxman were but he out batted them. Same way Ojha did outball Ashwin in that England series and hence was our best bowler for that series. By that logic he should have played that game in Chennai. Saying that he picked as many wickets at Mohali as Ashwin did, just had one bad day today. Hopefully he will come back strong in the 2nd innings. Seriously, I don't read much into his bowling today. I will be dissapointed only if he does bad in the 2nd innings.

Cricket is not played by logics .. As I said he just had a bad Day.

I'm sure Ojha supporters still think the best bowler's kaanfidence took a hit when he got dropped hence the reason of his below par performance.
Lets rejoice his failures because our captain doesn't rate him. :yay:

I don't question his place in the side. He deserves a spot. Just that projecting him as our ACE spinner is not agreeable. He is not. He is a good supporting spinner. Ashwin and Ojha complemented each other well hitherto. They should be persisted with using Jadeja as a surprising element. Jaddu definitely has something that neither Ashwin nor Ojha have. Pace on the ball. So all 3 can complement each other in Indian conditions.

Ok, would you have said the same had Ashwin continued with the form he had in the England series?? This thread was made just before the start of the series and at that stage, the recent form of Ashwin said that he was poorer than Ojha. Now that Ashwin is back in form, Ojha certainly isn't anymore our best spinner. And I completely agree with the Bold part.

Even when Ashwin was going through a bad patch i never expected Ojha to roll over oppositions ala Kumble style. He has few more issues to work on. Ashwin on the other hand has to work on consistency. Either he is damn good or horribly mediocre. No middle ground. Both are in developmental stages. Ashwin for the time being should not worry about not making runs with bat. I know he has some potential as a good batsman. But that is what we need.
