He stopped it in ODIs. Once he comes to Sc and keeps for 150 overs and 600 runs in a test or two, will stop in tests too.:winky:

IDK what your point is but if someone plays 14 Test matches as a WK over 10 years I wouldn't call him a WK at all. He's just someone who can keep wickets decently but is an excellent batsman.

What past? He fared poorly in England and had just one good innings in Australia. New Zealand and Pakistan (in South Africa) are hardly credible opponents.

He has played 11 matches as a WK, I don't know what you are on about him faring poorly as WK. He averages 55 vs Australia He averages 40 vs England He averages 59 vs New Zealand He averages 88 vs Pakistan

one good innings? what about 2nd test match ? do not just look at stats..he after faf wa the biggest reason that game was draw and in england he got few starts but threw it away and in many innings did not even get chance to bat properly ..also his batting is not a question anyway he is class batsman keeping wise he did better in england in his debut series as keeper then prior did when he first came onto scene (yes in his home grounds! ) prior was not best keeper anyway ..he is famous cos of his batting not keeping

:wall: Total khichdi happening here! Here is what transpired - he gave up the gloves against New Zealand to concentrate on his captaincy; with De Kock taking the gloves [0]. He wasn't supposed to take the gloves for the rest of the series too. BUT, he got suspended for the next 2 games due to slow over rate in the 1st ODI [1]. Recently, Kirsten himself has said that he is unsure about ABDV as a WK in ODIs [2].

"In terms of our situation with AB, it's more exploratory," Kirsten said in a wide-ranging press conference. "We are going through a phase of exploring and understanding his keeping. We haven't closed the door on whether he will become our one-day keeper."

So, neither has he given up the gloves nor has he accepted it. But, the very fact that they are thinking in that direction is a good enough indicator that he is unable to handle all three roles as the team would like. Ok - fine. Irrespective of whatever he has done in the last 2/3 series. 10 Test matches is too small a number to qualify someone has the BEST WK batsman! He has not kept enough to allow him a nomination as yet. If he keeps for another 2-3 years with at least close to 30 Test matches we can then talk.

ok i can see your point here... lets give him one more season .. but let me think abt it this way ..lets not compare over all careers as it will be unfair but current wont abdv get into world 11 as keeper? (he says tht he wants to keep and doing a great job )

I still have my doubts. The problem is that we have to define the constraints. Personally, I am not at all ready to compromise ABDV as a batsman. Given this - I will not have him keep wickets, personal opinion.

I feel you are ignoring one of the things you often say-correlation doesnt imply causation.Yeshes thinking about leaving gloves.but how do we know its because of the load?maybe they feel hes not good enough keeper atm.Or they are exploring backup options just in case?Infact the article says it wasnt his own decision.
