The students had come for admission at the Military School in Satara. MNS workers justified their attack saying that north Indian students were hampering the admission prospects of Marathi students. They alleged that many North Indian students got admissions on the basis of forged birth certificates.

I am Marathi but let me honestly admit while living in North India I came to realize Northies are much bigger units, esp. Punjabis can exceed even 6.2 feet. Also Northies are very hot/short-tempered, you cant predict anything. Also everyone in North India seems to have connection with some Police or Politicians. :omg:

I dont understand what beating up students will achieve. If they indeed forge certificates then IMO they should protest peacefully outside there and if not, launch some action in the courts.

While they may have entered the school (which is an offence) I dont see any evidence of them beating up anybody based on that video or acting in a violent manner. They just appear to point at a few children. Thats it.

A group of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party workers thrashed the father of a north Indian student in Satara on Monday afternoon, alleging that he had forged the age certificate which would get his son admission into the 5th standard of the Sainik School in Satara. “The outsiders (north Indians) come here with 15-year-old boys and take admission into this prestigious school in 5th standard which is meant for 10-11 year olds. Can we not make out the difference between a 10-year-old and a 15-year-old boy? Some parents complained to us and decided to take appropriate action against them,” Satara MNS chief Ranjit Bhosale told The Hindu. According to eye witnesses, the victim Mukesh Kumar who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, was accompanying his son for the mandatory medical check up before the admission at the government hospital in Satara, when MNS workers came and conducted an identification parade. “He (Mr. Kumar) spoke rudely with us, hence we had to tackle him physically,” Mr. Bhosale said. “Those people pay doctors to give them fake certificates, and then top in sports, academics and our boys are left behind. We do not oppose the 30 per cent reservation for students from other States, but cheating the school has to stop,” he stated. Asked whether he had complained against the hospital and the school for issuing and accepting fake age certificates, Mr. Bhosale said, “The ones who issue the certificates accept bribe, and some of the school authorities, too, are outsiders.” However, no police complaint was registered against the MNS workers. :facepalm: There was a police bandobast at the school after the incident. Seven others are still wanted in connection with the incident which took place yesterday at the Satara Civil Hospital where a medical examination of the boys was being held. They sought admission in standard VI in the school.

Every time there is an incident, some low level members are sent to jail. Most of these guys are more than happy to spend a few days in jail while their family is well taken care of outside. Unless there is action against the leaders who are supposed to control their party members, such gundagardi will continue to happen.
