The Outsider Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 India didn't get screwed in the first test in South Africa because of lack practice but because they were caught on a damp pitch losing the toss. Both teams made merry on the track once it dried out.
CG Posted March 7, 2013 Posted March 7, 2013 Warm ups will be especially important this time. We will have so many batsmen and bowlers who have never played tests in SA. Till the time we had the big 4 with considerable SA experience, we could go in with just 1 warm up match, no longer the case with a younger squad. Hopefully the uselss 7 ODIs and 2 T20 series vs Aus prior to SA series is cut down to 5 ODIs and 2 T20s giving the team an extra week in SA. The best thing would have been to have odi series first then test series.

FischerTal Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Too soon. At this moment he is our own Kulasekara. His biggest test will be SA. I feel Graeme Smith will just think of him as another Indian trundler and get out in the same manner like Warner.
FischerTal Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 In Pakistan we have bowlers like BK on every street playing cricket. haha then why not pick them in test team panther bhai? your best bowler in SA was Rahat Ali :hysterical:
FischerTal Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 May I remind you of his spell in abu dhabi against sa 6-120. may i remind you of his spell in SA where he could barely reach above 130+? :hysterical::hysterical:
G_B_ Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Re: Warm Ups Its different that SA had a single warm up v Aus or for that matter a single warm up v England (people like Philander were playing county cricket before the clash) cause they are played in countries with similar pitches and bowling ethics and line ups. I dont think warm ups for eg will be that essential if India tour Sri lanka or even the UAE. The bottomline with warm ups is we have nothing to lose if we do schedule 2-3 warm ups. If we still lose we can atleast say there was not much which can be done with tour prep and pin point where it went wrong.
panther Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 haha then why not pick them in test team panther bhai? your best bowler in SA was Rahat Ali :hysterical: For the sake of competitiveness in international cricket PCB picks the worst talent available.
panther Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 may i remind you of his spell in SA where he could barely reach above 130+? :hysterical::hysterical: Tanvir ahmed averages more then sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman etc in south africa with the bat. He is actually a batsman disguised as a bowler in order to boost his chances for selection.
