Lord
are u really comparing ojha and jadeja jadeja at his best now has not wicked a fifer ojha got a freaking 10 wicket haul i think in last series he played! :yikes:  no I am not comparing.Ojha is better for these conditions and should play for away I am saying he wont be as much a factor,so better pick someone who can hold and end up Link to comment
Old guy
hainji?on one hand you saying you didnt say they were legends then asking whether Rahane has class of Dravid n Ganguly? I am asking simple question-how will playing in these conditions prepare them for facing Steyn n Co. in SA?Pujara n Kohli are as groomed as anybody and I dont expect much from them too.hoping Pujara does well though. we have an A tour in July.better send these players there to get a feel of the conditons that attack is good, but still we need to maximise our chances.I suggest Ashwin,Ojha,BK,Shami,AND Jaddu.this will help us win more matches at home tell me how would playing ranji cricket help any one play international cricket? lets pick me instead! :proud: Link to comment
The Outsider
that I agree.Raina n Yuvraj should not have played.the transition has been handled badly And we are doing exactly the same thing again. Jadeja is not an all conditions test player and we are wasting time on him. If you are unsure about Jadeja's test pedigree check back in 2-3 years to see where he stands. I expect a 4-0.I can't see how few series in home conditions prepares one for the swinging n bouncing ball they gonna face in SA. better play them in A tours.we dont need to change our home strategy for that Why does it have to be one or the other? Even playing at home, they will be playing against proper international attacks. At the least crap can be weeded out because if a batsman can't handle a pace attack in these conditions we can be sure he won't be able to in South Africa. For example, Jadeja - the way he has played against Anderson, Pattinson etc. it's pretty much stamped that he is crap and has not chance in hell of scoring in South Africa. Success here might not guarantee success there, but failure here does guarantee failure there. so only flighting the ball is way to succeed for a spinner?Ojha tosses the ball up,but doesnt put enough revs.plus he is not as accurate. It's an important tool. And who said Ojha is not accurate. He has an economy rate of around 2.5. Can't believe you are seriously comparing the two. Ojha has taken almost 100 wickets at 5 wickets per test. pace bowler like Ishant was peripheral in Aus too.BK has been good.anyway what I meant that spin wasnt unplayable if you implied that.bad spinners still get hammered n good get wickets He was peripheral because he was crap. He was still required to bowl lots of overs. How many overs are our pace bowlers bowling on these pitches? You're wrong, even mediocrity like Jadeja will pick wickets here because of the pitches and poor batting line up. Link to comment

Old guy
comparing bowler with batsmen? why not ? i comapred our best bowler to best batsman both performing at home according to u any one can come in and do there job equally well hope u see ur mistake :winky: Link to comment
Old guy
:hysterical: Everything is fine till he says he is better than Harbhajan, Ishant or Sehwag or Sachin in the current form, he is better than 2 in batting and 2 in bowling so deserves to play in the XI . But better than Ojha. :giggle: But then revolutions per second are more important than being ranked 8 bowler, best bowler in the prev series, avg 25 in a series where 2nd best avged 50+. dont know what happened to lord he is supporting him jsut for the sake of supporting him :cantstop: Link to comment
Lord
And we are doing exactly the same thing again. Jadeja is not an all conditions test player and we are wasting time on him. If you are unsure about Jadeja's test pedigree check back in 2-3 years to see where he stands. you are comparing batsman n bowler.Raina n Yuvraj were batsmen so when they did well here they were picked there thinking they'll do well there too.Its lot harder to say for batsmen but for spinner,he doesnt he doesnt need to be picked for SA.just perform at home when spinners rule n fast bowlers will do the job in foreignland.there spinner would just be required as support bowler Why does it have to be one or the other? Even playing at home, they will be playing against proper international attacks. At the least crap can be weeded out because if a batsman can't handle a pace attack in these conditions we can be sure he won't be able to in South Africa. For example, Jadeja - the way he has played against Anderson, Pattinson etc. it's pretty much stamped that he is crap and has not chance in hell of scoring in South Africa. Success here might not guarantee success there, but failure here does guarantee failure there. the proper pace attack is rendered useless in the conditions so Murali Vijay can feast on it n be 'groomed' for SA.where he'll be exposed.the better way to go about it is on A tours where they will face same conditions,if not the same level of attack, the conditions there will make even those bowlers more threatening you are correct about 'weeding crap' out part but still it doesnt need to be done in a Test match.its no preparatory camp.the whole focus should be on winning the Test at hand It's an important tool. And who said Ojha is not accurate. He has an economy rate of around 2.5. Can't believe you are seriously comparing the two. Ojha has taken almost 100 wickets at 5 wickets per test not comparing Ojha's a top bowler.just speculating how'd he go in those conditions as he hasnt even played one test in such conditions.lets see,I wont mind him either He was peripheral because he was crap. He was still required to bowl lots of overs. How many overs are our pace bowlers bowling on these pitches? You're wrong, even mediocrity like Jadeja will pick wickets here because of the pitches and poor batting line up. Jadeja has done well.Chawla n Mishra wouldnt done as well as you were saying, its not much different from some of the pitches they played on Link to comment
rkt.india
If they are adamant to have an alrounder why not try Parvez Rasol too. He had a 7-fer in warmup and had scored some runs too. He is an attacking bowler. Why again go back to Bhajji, lets pick him for the last 2 tests and see what he can do. I bet any Indian spinner will trouble Aussies on these pitches. Jalaj Saxena and Rakesh Dhruv had 4 and 5 wickets respectively in warmups. Link to comment

urbestfriend
cmon Jaddu is bad test player because legends of this forum think so, doesn't matter if he has performed decently in the little opportunities he got. any one else like bhatt, nadeem, ram or raheem should be better, who cares if he fits the role given to him. saneindian
Jadeja has a place in the side only as a 5th bowler. In the current attack he is playing perhaps as the 3rd bowler after Ashwin and Kumar. The only reason he is getting to bowl so many overs is because of the failures of Ishant and Bhajan. Any one of them bowling decently will make Jaddu's presence nearly redundant. As the test series moves up north, IMO he doesn't fit into the 11. Play 4 specialist bowlers and let Rahane be in the 11. Link to comment
