There's a difference between not wanting people for personal reasons and tactical reasons. It surely did not look like a tactical reason to many going by the kind of history they had.

Yes, that was the official reason. But the unofficial reason was something else. It was a bit predictable as well, since many who follow Australian cricket knew that Katich will go the moment Clarke becomes captain.

The fact is Clarke does not wield the level of influence Dhoni does. Australia have selectors who travel with the team and pick even the playing 11 (or have input) as does the coach. Your theory would be more plausible if Clarke was like Dhoni in australia. The fact is nothing for eg is stopping Australia from picking Katich in the T20s where Clarke has nothing to do with anything.

Dropping of Katich can not be entirelty tactical decision. Australia had started struggling and Katich's was one of very few bright performances in that lineup. Next I heard that he wasn't extended a contract by ACB. Even ridiculous treatment meted out to Ojha pales in comparison.
