Yes Mr.Uthappa.What is your solution?

It is too early to say that these two have solved our openers' problem but it is a positive start. Atleast the selectors and Dhoni can start to believe that there can be options beyond Gambhir and Sehwag. That is the main gain for me. When somebody is failing, new players need to be looked into. I hope that the same logic is applied to Ishant Sharma as well.

Too early to say its a flat pitch out there. Today its got flatter. Even the aussie final 3 got about 140 runs.
Flat or not flat Dhawan looks way better than gambir ever did in the last two years, at home or abroad. My 'inside' sources tell me that Dhawan did not lay the pitch, so not his fault its flat!!! Iwas worried the moment Gambir hits a 50, kaptaaan sahib will have him back in the team due to his infatuation with left right combos.........thank God for Dhawan, I couldn't tolerate Pokemon any longer!!

No doubt he looks better than Gambhir or Sehwag. But is he a long term solution? its too early to say IMO. South africa will tell us more. If Dhawan can average 35 plus with the bat there IMO we have found a solution for our opener.

I fully agree, all Im saying is hes playing on the conditions given to him and we should be patient with newbies, thats all!!!

Solved? Mooli and Thug life avg. well below 50 in FC it is pretty obvious they will be found out soon enough. Still...cashing in on Indian pattas. Some could not even manage that.

The point is there are two aspects - home + foreign conditions. Sehwag/Gambhir have done nothing in foreign conditions in our last away tours. Also, they have nothing on the home tours as well. In that aspect, Vijay/Dhawan are at least looking good at home so they are better options as of now.

Both these guys need to open for India A in SA and then for India in SA, Vijay is bit less of a hack- he seems to have learnt how to curb his airy strokes outside offstump- than SD from what Ive seen. Full credit to Dhawan who would have thought I was not all for his opening for India in tests beaing in mind how he had struggled in WI in ODIs, but he seems a better batsman... still as good as this innings is we can not take too much from it, flat pitch not so great attack

Dhawan had his own demons to conquer, which can be greater than the opposition. He has done his bit for this match. Now, its upto the mngmt to see how they can be groomed. They should go to the A tours of SA.

He still plays away from the body and will struggle when the ball swings. I like his temperament though and he has enough time. Dhawan seems to be a bit late on the ball. Now, this is due to his style or a deficiency needs to be seen.

I googled Vijay Dhawan and got this Dr. Vijay M. Dhawan, MD - Phone & Address Info – Montebello, CA ... Wonder if he is a cricket fan... Anyway i was looking for instances where the two have betted together in the past I know they have in Challenger series matches, maybe for BP XI teams ...

Sooda, Agreed. If BCCI has any brains, they will send both of them on India-A to South Africa. But knowing the idiots at BCCI, they will say "these two are established in Indian team" - so no need for them to be on A-tour. SA tour is tough even for our stalwarts like Dravid, VVS, SRT. So, I fully expect Steyn, Morkel and Philander to toy with Vijay and Dhawan and send them packing. It will be good experience if they first go on India-A tour.
