FischerTal Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm talking about ODIs. And GG scored 80 odd as well but I know it doesn't mean a lot. When did I say he has a good attitude ? Dropping him permanently is what you are trying to say which is a bit foolish IMO. Im not saying drop him permanently. Im just saying give chances to new people so we can try them out. thats the only reason people are talking about Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay in tests. If they fail, then bring back GG.
Number Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 So who will be in our group ? India - rank 1 ODI team. Sa - rank 2 ODI team. Eng - rank 3 ODI team + home advantage. Pakistan - Not very good in ODIs but usually do well in ICC tourneys. And in another group there are Lanka, WI, NZ and Aus. What a joke this is. Last season 9 away ODIs we played against England,Aus we managed to win only 1. Considering that just don't finish at the bottom of this tough group and I'll be happy.
FischerTal Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 yeah the difference in condition is one thing to consider but we would go with 1 specialist spinner in most of the matches thats i picked them as a backup for ashwin. zak is not the same bowler anymore all i want is his reverse swing in the later part of the match and on gambhir its not like he cannot handle the swinging delivery its just he is not in form given his stunning performance in the last season its fair to give him a go here GG will no doubt come back for CT because of his proximity to Dhoni. He will have to work on his technique. Heck, even GG's coach, who also coaches U Chand, says U Chand has a better technique than GG

FischerTal Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 if gambhir can play more innings like this in ODI and test, then he can stay till eternity. he needs to go back to the nets and work hard. Gautam Gambhir 83 v Australia 2nd Test SCG 2012 - YouTube That's how you fix your flaws . You learn and yes GG has been a burden since WC. But you are writing him off too soon. Just because we have got young player waiting doesn't mean we have to drop our regular players. Dhawan and Vijay has done well but Gambhir hasn't been that bad in ODIs to get dropped.

adi B Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 if we play rohit, yuvraj, outof form gambhir ,pak, saf,wi will streamroll over our top order, further if we play hacks like dinda, ishant, vinee koomar as our pacers we`ll finish bottom of the group. tbh my prediction is we might lose to pak and saf and get knocked out but hope we play young pacers like bhuvi, shami, aaron(if fit)

Number Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 1 Gambhir/Dhawan 2. Rohit/Pujara 3. Kohli 4. Yuvi 5. Raina/Tiwary 6. MSD 7. Jadeja 8. IKP 9. Ash 10. Bhuvi 11. Shami/One pacer from IPL(out of Awana, Mohit, Ankit,Pandey, Siddharth Kaul) Strength : Batting depth, will have 10 players iin XI who can bat. Plenty of part time bowling options. Very good fielding unit. Weakness : Inexperienced in bowling dept. Need one more solid opener to make top order less vulnerable in testing conditions. IPL fatigue.
