CG even in that 07 World T20' date=' he let the game drift in the final :) 104/7 t0 152 :P[/quote'] He was new to captaincy then.I thought his peak came in 2008 australia series where indias peak also came.Even in cb series or australia tour of india odis where we lost the attitude ,fight was what dhoni was for me.

WC win >>>>>> 0-8. Winning a world cup is a rare achievement. In fact winning it at home is sweeter as it is in front of your home fans. Bilateral series keep happening every year, you win some you lose some, rather you get white washed in some and give it back in kind soon after. :winky:

Anyone could have captained better than Dhoni' date=' Saha could have kept better, but not batted better.[/quote'] So I assume you reckon Sehwag captained better since he lost by 298 runs only? Its all so easy to say in hindsight that the tactic used didn't work. They tried to block one side out for Kallis but Kallis was too good. Didn't the same tactic work when Aussies toured India in 08?

T20 does not have a World Cup.
Oh I see, so how about you answer the question now? How did he manage to win the "World T20" in SA? and yes any particular reason you didn't feel the need to rebut on the winning world cup at home part?

Tactics depend on situations.Aussie were going for the win so the tactic worked but Southafrica were trying to save it.It was a mistake but greater one was scolding sreesanth in the middle of the pitch .

Uff! It's a manner of speaking to imply that the results could have been different and better if we had a better captain and keeper. Don't think any other keeper would have made any difference with the bat. But with better captaincy and keeping the results at Lords, Trent Bridge, and Melbourne could have been different. That is the crux of the argument and not the exact numbers which were written to add masala - how would I know what exactly the numbers could have been and in any case there is no way to verify them.
++ Don't know why it's so hard to understand

Yeah, Sehwag is expected to turn a bruised and battered team around in 1 test? No wonder you put the  smiley in your post.

It's not hindsight. Many people said the same thing while watching the match. Tell me doesn't common sense tell you that if an injured batsman is trying to reverse sweep an off spinner out of the rough, will you not allow him to keep taking the risk?

Do not Bother ' date='The same guys were going Ballistic over Field Placements,Bowling Changes During the English tour and aussie tour,But [b']on ICF u are as good as ur last performance and everything is forgotten until the next debacle. If Somebody Wants to remember the horrors He does not even need to watch the eng or aussie tour highlights .He just needed to watch the aussie tail bat.The Field settings will take u back in time.
Fixed. Its full of girgits. :giggle:

I don't give much importance to T20. It's a lottery format and there is too much of chance, cowlashing, and darting involved in it for me to seriously consider it to be even cricket. What about the World Cup? Correlation does not mean causation. Dhoni played a great knock in the final, but what was his contribution as kaptaan towards winning the Cup? Any mind blowing tactics like Crowe used in the '92 WC? Any innovations like Ranatunga did in '96? Giving Chawla kaaphidense? Playing a bowler with a 6+ career economy rate in the finals and keep bowling him? I'll give this much, Dhoni handled Zaheer well in the tournament.

So, why not make Ishant kaptaan if he is going to make all the decisions. The match was in a crucial stage, there had just been a lunch break, and Dhoni should have given a kick on Ishant's bum and asked him to bowl given how we were already a bowler short. Putting the responsibility on Ishant is rubbish - the captain is the ultimate authority on such decisions.
Who's putting the responsibility on Ishant? Of course, the responsibility lies with Dhoni - but the blame on Ishant because he refused to bowl. This is because her wanted a breather plus there was a long schedule ahead considering we were already one bowler down the last thing you needed was an overworked bowler for the rest of the tour. It's not like MS Dhoni can bowl for Ishant.
Wasn't Ishant playing on despite an ankle problem during that Eng series? or was it the Aus series?
Australia.

Since, captaincy was such a major factor in the previous matches Sehwag could have slightly improved the performance. He failed even to do that - as usual Sehwag Najafgarh Logic :fail:

Huh? Ishant can't refuse to bowl unless Dhoni permits it. Dhoni should have said, "STFU and bowl. We are on the verge of coming back in the test, you've had a 45 minute rest, and we are already a bowler short. And if you can't take this occasional heavy load, don't bother playing for the country again." Do you think Border would have let Ishant do something like this after what happened with Jones at Chennai?

Promoting Yuvi in the batting order despite him being in poor form. Successfully managing Yuvi as front line spinner throughout the tournament. Promoting himself ahead of Yuvi in final despite his poor form and Yuvi's form Picking Raina for knock out despite poor form and just playing a single league game for crucial Knock outs. Picking Nehra ahead of Ashwin for the Semi final. Yep it has nothing to with captaincy we won the world cup despite having one of the weakest bowling attacks.

In the last Test match at Adelaide, India let Australia score 604 the highest in the whole series. Talk about improvement.

That's fair enough but you can't "blame" Dhoni alone for not wanting to bowl Ishant. It was not as if it wasn't apparent to him that Ishant should bowl. He wanted to but Ishant asked for a breather - so Dhoni can't bowl for Ishant. Since, you bring Alan Border - he along with Simpson wouldn't have let Dravid, Laxman and possibly Tendulkar tour Australia and may have ended Ishant's (or even Zaheer and Sehwag's) careers. Lets not talk about extreme setups here.

659/4 in the same series. From 37/3. :giggle:
