Ram Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 These guys are reeling off some fluke wins before other teams can fully figure out their roster. Their above average bowling attack (Steyn ) cannot always compensate for their underwhelming batting line-up. There is not one guy in their batting line-up that inspires fear in the minds of opposition fans. Sangakkara as a T20 player is well past his sell-by date. Parthiv as at best average, White and Perera can be threatening but both of them can be sorted out with some intelligent bowling. and there are these unknown faces. You could have five Dale Steyns in your bowling line-up, but at the end of the day, T20 is a batsmen’s game. Hyderabad will being to struggle soon.

Akshat Reddy is a good batsman but perhaps he is not right for this format. Vihari also looks like a decent batsman to me but he doesnt have the numbers in FC to back that up. But he is only 19 and he will get better as he plays more. There's Ravi Teja who is another decent bat. V Rao playing for DD is another good batsman. Suman is a decent hitter.

I get the feeling Gavaskar is not really following Hyderabad in Ranji and made that comment solely on the local Hyderabadi players present in Sunrisers. He might not be too far away from the truth but his conclusion of Hyderabad Ranji team sucking, based on Sunrisers performance, is flawed.

Also , no IPL side is actually relying on Ranji players whether its CSK, MI, KKR, DD, Pune etc . They may have 1 or 2 state players like Rohit Sharma or Murali Vijay but they have played international cricket. Hyd franchise didnt spend enough money on getting good Indian batsmen and so they are playing state players just like Kings X1 Punjab who also have Mandeep Singh, Manan Vohra, Gurkeerat etc. They have very little experience at this level and you cant expect these guys to win you games on most occasions.
