The top players in the other teams are not good enough to get selected for the national side. Plus other teams in the Mushtaq Ali trophy also have non local players who play for the Ranji side which makes the results in the tourney irrelavent Compared to IPL stars, they are pretty ordinary but in such a hypothetical tourney Mooli, Badri and co will be competing with the rest of the domestic players where they are strongly placed. 1) Mooli has done zilch in the domestic season and in this IPL also. He is hardly a force. 2) Only the weaker teams use outstation players in Ranji; the stronger ones that regularly rough up TN in domestic cricket hardly use outstation players. Kerala, Karnataka didn't have outstation players.
