Pakistanis shocked that no Pakistani has been suspected in Boston Marathon bombings

Pakistanis, cutting across social strata, have reacted in shock and disbelief to the news that not a single Pakistani has been suspected of involvement, however tenuous or indirect, in the Boston Marathon blasts. That honour dishonor has gone instead to the Chechen Republic, a tiny province in the Caucasus that has been waging a war of secession against the Russian Federation for over two decades. From Lahore to Larkana, Karachi to Khyber, increduility is writ large on the face of the man on the street as he struggles to come to terms with the fact that, for the first time, Pakistan is a non player in a major terror attack. It could have been worse though: For a few hours, a student of Indian origin, Sunil Tripathi, a Brahmin from Boston and therefore a Boston Brahmin, emerged as a lead suspect, leading to a spike in depression levels. Fortunately, that was later found to be a false lead much to the relief of most Pakistanis. If Pakistanis are relieved (and a little disappointed), the mood in LeT training camps dotting West Punjab’s hinterland and Taliban territory in Af-Pak is one of acute gloom and despondency. “This is downright humiliating for us that a Chechen walked away with the gold medal this year,†cried Mullah Akhund, a top Taliban commander, to The Unreal Times. “Imagine the feeling when Pakistan loses to India in a World Cup cricket match. Amplify that feeling ten times. That’s how bad we feel right now, man,†he said and began to bang his head against the wall. LeT chief, Hafiz Saeed, echoed his views. “Pakistan spends close to 5% of its GDP, or 5 lakh crore Pakistani rupees, on terrorism every year. Yet not a single Pakistani emerges as lead suspect in the terrorist attack of the year? We truly suck,†he glumly observed. The dreaded JuD Amir has cancelled his hate speeches against India for the next few weeks since he feels completely flat and ‘out of steam’. However, mere loss of prestige should be the least of the Islamists’ worries, contends Tenga Raman, geo-strategic expert. “Americans may now dump the Af-Pak region altogether, leaving them to their own fate and do Chechnya instead, provided they manage to locate it first on the world map,†noted Raman. “That could be the end of the special relationship between Pakistan and America, I’m afraid. No more drone attacks, billions of dollars in aid, tempting bounties on Al Qaeda suspects, lying to each other and then making up. A swift and unceremonious end to a highly passionate and tempestuous affair as Uncle Sam begins to flirt with Chechnya instead.â€

Were you sleeping in Sandy? There were two categories of evacuations - mandatory and voluntary.
No I wasn't sleeping during Sandy. I work for a utility company and I was part of the storm restoration process in three different states over two months.

^^^ Scary. Everything points to home grown radicalization! Even then, something in this story is missing. Either that or apparently convincing disgruntled, jobless young men to take up terrorism is astonishingly easy. Somebody was pushing his buttons and they better find out who! And finally one dude is jobless, the other on a (meagre)scholarship.Yet they have fancy cars, apparently the younger chap was sporting $900 shoes. Not to mention he was jobless, turning fanatical and yet managed to woo an all American chik, convert her to Islam, make a kid....I say follow the money and and all answers will be found. Won't be surprised if the trail leads to a certain middle eastern country.

So it seems like it was motivated by religion. But this incident has huge implications. Basically, now Muslims can act violent on their own to protect their religion. That's something very dangerous and extremely important for all countries to think about.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev charged in civil court http://edition.cnn.com/2013/04/22/us/boston-attack/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

The decision to charge Tsarnaev in civilian court put an end to speculation that he would be charged as an enemy combatant, a designation sometimes used against terrorists. White House spokesman Jay Carney said that Tsarnaev is a naturalized U.S. citizen and cannot be tried by a military commission. Trying Tsarnaev in civilian courts -- like "hundreds of terrorists" to date -- is "absolutely the right way to go and the appropriate way to go," Carney said. "We have a long history of successfully prosecuting terrorists and bringing them to justice, and the president fully believes that that process will work in this case." That disappointed Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, who has been calling for Tsarnaev to be handed over to U.S. intelligence as an "enemy combatant." "There is ample evidence here on the criminal side," Graham said. "A first-year law student could prosecute this case. What I am worried about is, what does this individual know about future attacks or terrorist organizations that may be in our midst? We have the right to gather intelligence." Graham also said there was also "ample evidence" that the bombings were "inspired by radical ideology." But while Tamerlan Tsarnaev apparently became increasingly radical in the past three or four years, according to an analysis of his social media accounts and the recollections of family members, there was no evidence Monday that he had any active association with international jihadist groups. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died after a shootout with police early Friday. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured that night, after police found him hiding in a boat in the back yard of a house in the Boston suburb of Watertown, Massachusetts.
