At present, 4 foreign players are allowed in the playing XI while each franchisee can have 11 overseas players in the full squad. "We have a lot of very good foreign players. It is very difficult for us as we can only play four. I wish T20-League would change that and get more foreign players, but it's not possible. Someone has to miss out," Dravid said at a function in Kolkata. Dravid made the remark while lauding teammate and English batsman Owais Shah's performance in the last edition of the tournament. Shah, who represents Rajasthan, has so far played one match in the ongoing tourney. "I know he has been a top performer for us. In the last season, he had done very well but for the combination and balance of the side sometimes we can't fit all the foreign players," Dravid said. Stressing the importance of playing good cricket, Dravid asserted that his side is focusing solely on moving to the play-offs without losing any sleep on the fate of the other teams. "To be honest, we aren't worried about what happens to other teams. We are focusing on ourselves. Whether others are in the play-offs or are knocked out, it doesn't matter. I don't care who the other three teams are in the play-offs as long as we are one of the four," Dravid said. Now lying third in the points table, Rajasthan will take on Kolkata at Eden Gardens on Friday. "We have played particularly well so far. We are going to take a game at a time. We have been doing some things right, have been playing good cricket; specially in tough situations, we have somebody stepping up and doing the job for us. That's what we got to focus on. The next few days will be pretty busy for us. We will just try to play good cricket and put simple things in place," said Dravid.

Old guy Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 always supported this they should allow atleast 5 players it will increase quality of league and honestly ipl is not gonna produce any proper cricketer for us its just tamasha for people lets not buy into crap its for discovering indian talents all guys who are discovered here are form ranji teams for example samson he has 2 first class 100's already in 7 games! people like him will still get chance and crap players like bhatia might get dropped :yay:

We all know not everyone willing to spend 100mil for players, especially teams like KXIP, Sun, Kochi are simply poor on paper to afford more players.

Even if one or two domestic players have a good season in each team, it's still not bad in a line-up of 4 foreigners, maybe 2 senior Indians and 5 domestics. The likes of Vijay, Dhawan and others got their big breaks through the IPL. Domestic performances aside, the IPL is when these players really get noticed and get to show their talent against foreign bowling attacks/batting line-ups. It also shows their ability to handle the big stage, the big games and the big crowds. I doubt reducing the quota is going to improve their performances. Domestic players are used as filling material anyway. Once the 4 foreign slots are allocated (and they are nearly always allocated fully, it's rare for a team not to use all 4 of the slots in a game), and the senior Indian players are selected (again, it's rare for them to be dropped), the domestic players fill in the gaps.

Terrible idea. They'll stop rotating the strike when they're supposed to, they'll try bowling kangaroo-like deliveries in the hope of picking up a wicket, and the team is going to pay for it big time.

Old guy Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 ofcourse Ranjis is premier tourney but we dont see it enough n selectors often go by stats alone which can be misleading.IPL gives them exposure n shows thier abillity to handle pressure n intl. bowlers too thats why we have selectors from all zones there job is to go see them live even if there is no tv coverage i saw nayar on tv once and knew he was a hack and we both had lots of discussion over it too and with samson on cricinfo many people who saw him said this guy is special now if nobodies can say this i think it should be easy for selector when 18 year old scores 2 hundreds in first class matches u have to look at him now ipl gave him exposure what will happen if he just changes his game for t20 ? i can tell u mandeep has been badly effected by ipl in this season he was playing like it was t20 too many risky shots even for single and got out many times cheaply and had one good inning and even in it was dropped and was edgy (saurav saw that match live ) at 18 there is good chance that he is still learning his game and didnt we all once agreed players under certain age should not be selected? i think there was rule in kxip franchise to not select certain players under certain age though im not sure :hmmm:
