SLICKR392 Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Nine weeks later, the final surgery is completed with the reconstruction of the breasts with an implant. There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful :woot:

Which is a very brave thing IMO, and might influence more women in the right way. She intended it to be big news

Texy Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Texy :hmmm: Angelina had a prophylactic nipple sparring mastectomy where you make the incision, lift the nipple, and divide the blood vessels that supply it from within the breast. This allows you to redirect blood supply from surrounding skin to the nipple tissues so the nipple is healthy. Next step is staged reconstruction which involves implants. It's a two step process spread over several weeks. Great advantage of having implants after mastectomy is that there is almost no chance of getting infected or forming scar tissue. :sherlock:
