He simply run out of luck and support. Every player in power has infinite number of enemies. But what keeps them in charge is the support from the surrounding. But in this case, the surrounding people are all proper politicians and they do not want this fixing scandal to have their names. Thus, let's put it Sreenivasan is being made a scrapgoat. If he is guilty for betting based on having information about teams, toss decisions etc he should be punished. But that is different from spot fixing which suggests player involvement and there is not a shred of evidence so far regarding that.
