vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 he pounded pak in bangladesh ffs He failed against Pak in India.. are you saying India is a bowling paradise :cantstop:
FischerTal Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 He failed against Pak in India.. are you saying India is a bowling paradise :cantstop: that chennai track definitely was :beee:
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 that chennai track definitely was :beee: Gambhir failed, Viru failed, Yuvraj failed, Rohit failed.. lol but Kohli alone is weak against moving ball :giggle: What about Kohli's 87 not out against SA at Port elizabeth? Ball came straight in straight out? That also makes Ashwin/Raina/Dhoni better players of moving ball
FischerTal Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Gambhir failed' date=' Viru failed, Yuvraj failed, Rohit failed.. lol but Kohli alone is weak against moving ball :giggle: What about Kohli's 87 not out against SA at Port elizabeth? vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 you said he has scored against pak. 183 in seaming/swinging heaven Mirpur makes him a batting genius Did Pujara score then? :giggle: No right? Didn't Pujara fail in South Africa where the ball was moving around? Every bloody Indian batsman have that weakness against moving ball.. some survive in some matches and score and some doesn't Apart from guys like Sachin, Dravid others are remotely capable of playing well against moving ball.

Also, Pujara has been highest run scorer in our A tours, so it is not that he has a weakness against moving ball. IIRC he played two poor shots and the third one was a beauty from dale steyn that swung from leg to off. kohli had a patta in Adelaide to score his century
Crookbond Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 He said he fails when he moves.. i just showed an example where he did well and the ball moved..Failing against Pak? In one series? Most of the times he pounded them. Unless we can come up with alternate "moving ball" expert we can't really take a dig at him. I can show you an example of Raina hitting short ball for a six. Does it mean he plays the short ball well?

Badrinath averages over 100 in A tours.. so don't extrapolate A tour results into international success. When it comes to Pujara, it is poor shot, beauty.. but when it comes to Kohli he is an FTB. Nice double standard there. Pujara is a great test batsman with gifted temperament. But don't count your chicken before they hatch.. he is yet to prove abroad.

Kohli's problem IS the moving ball you accept it 2. Kohli is not at the level of Tendulkar or Dravid currently FYI - It's not the moving ball but also the bounce which Kohli finds it difficult to manage due to his wristy (and quite unique) shot making capabilities.
vvvslaxman Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 I can show you an example of Raina hitting short ball for a six. Does it mean he plays the short ball well? one ball vs one whole innings? I can show example of so many of our current batsmen failing against moving ball.. would you dismiss them? What did India as a team do at Ahmedabad on day 1.. Got bundled out for 76 runs..THey scored only when the pitch eased out.. We sound like we have tons of "moving ball"experts that are so much better than Kohli. He has failed.. he has succeeded too. For some reason we cling onto his failures .

A tours are used to pick players for abroad. what other criteria are you going to use for a player?

I admit he has certain weaknesses coz of his unique stroke play. But i think he is good enough to overcome it sooner than later. Which batsmen don't have such weaknesses? Have you seen Yuvraj's pathetic defense against spinners or Rohit's defense? Pujara often misreads the line from spinners .. spotted correctly by his own fan. For some reason KOhli is getting bagged more than other hacks.

Adelaide is a flat pitch.. But somehow Whatever pujara batted on are "moving" conditions. Tendu also failed there..None of your comparison prove Pujara is an expert against moving ball.

You are trying to make a straw man. Here is what CPD wrote virat kohli gets scared when the ball moves If I'm not wrong, he meant Virat Kohli doesn't play the moving ball well. Just like you say, there are others as well but we don't hear those guys being nominated as the next best thing since sliced bread; Kohli well everything goes out for a toss with him.

Pujara often misreads the line from spinners .. spotted correctly by his own fan. For some reason KOhli is getting bagged more than other hacks. And you are free to state that! The problem is that Kohli is clubbed with a group of players where he doesn't belong - Dravid, Tendulkar yada yada. Instead of accepting the weakness you posted 1 innings at Perth which was played in the 3rd innings of the Test match IIRC to show that he CAN play against the moving ball. In the highlights you posted itself has 3 edges through the slip-gully area!

But he certainly has some good attributes as a batsman. . But he is treated like some total hack some of our ICFers.
Clarke Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Guy averages almost 50 in ODIs & the technical flaws are not as relevant in that format.
SLICKR392 Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Kohli>>>>Pujara. I believe it as I see it. What is that based on? Fixed league?

Tendu also failed there..None of your comparison prove Pujara is an expert against moving ball. are you kidding me? he was the one that got rcb through the first 3-4 overs when ball was swinging around at Chinnaswamy. otherwise rcb would have collapsed for under 100 with ftb kohli and gayle at the helm. he also scored runs in that period so as not to put too much pressure on the batsmen that would have to come in later. as far as kohli is concerned, his odi record does not mean he will be good test player. out of his 13 odi centuries, 11 are in subcontinent, with 3 from Mirpur of all places. we'll compare him with pujara after pujara plays some odis.
